… because I’m not over these & because I just started a new job & because I’m allowed to be a creative and a counselor at the same time & because let’s be real… I’m not keeping up with two IGs. 🙃🪴🛋️

Years ago when I would say “I’m so busy!”, my mom would say, “Don’t say ‘I’m so busy’… say, ‘I’m so fruitful!’ instead.” … and I would roll my eyes on the other side of the phone ☺️🤣 because those seasons didn’t feeeeel fruitful… even if they were. They just felt busy… and I felt exhausted.

Now, even though I have been beyonnnnd exhausted in many ways… from recovering from the seasons of my past while holding up everything that is in the present… I can say… yes, I’m busy, and… I’m so fruitful. 🍐

It was true when it didn’t feel like it, but what a gift it’s been to experience the feeeeling of fruitfulness, even while I’m busy/tired & recovering. Thank you, God. 🤎 by @jadadianna_

I love what I get to do, but I’m super grateful for a little extra rest this week. 🫶🏾✨ how are you taking care of yourself lately? by @jadadianna_

Last “Sabbath Saturday in September” was peaceful & filling. 🌱 the thought I had to put into doing this every Saturday last month has really encouraged me to be more serious about observing Sabbath regularly & approaching it intentionally. It’s a new month & I aim to switch back to Sundays, but the goal of ceasing & resting is still the same. 🫶🏾 by @jadadianna_

Shabbat (שַׁבָּת): to cease, or stop working • a set-apart day of rest, worship, & enjoying God’s good gifts.

Maybe a day to pause & remember that God sustains it all is where burnout recovery begins for me. 🪴 by @jadadianna_

Just because you know something to be true doesn’t mean it’s easy to believe in practice. I post a lot of highlights on here, but here are a handful of things I still have a hard time accepting… maybe y’all can relate? Enjoy. 💐

I want to wake up without feeling like an extra 100lbs is on me. Sometimes I do… and it chases me down until catches up with me. Convincing myself it’s not just in my head is possibly the hardest part. Environment helps to stop the bleeding, but recovery takes time. ❤️‍🩹

Over explaining, appeasing, “fawning”… for what? My mom has told me this my whole life & I’ve started to embrace it more lately, but I still struggle to accept it at times. Peoples’ perceptions of you matter less than God’s approval & acceptance.

Whether you are genuinely burned out or stressed about the state of the world or both… remove the mask and just be — cortisol face & all.

& I am unfortunately a night owl who needs 9-10 hours of sleep to feel truly rested in a 9-5 world. Good luck to me. 💀

No explanation needed.
Shoutout to my mom, again.

Get the degree. Don’t get the degree. Move to the city. Leave the city. Quit the job. Keep the job…

I’m not against settling down & finding contentment where you are, but changing your mind and doing something about it is an option & privilege that not everyone has. Taking the leap hasn’t always been the hard part for me but feeling the need to explain my path has. I’m getting super close to “who cares” these days.

Mentally, I am always somewhere in between trying to handle what’s in front of me & living my life like it’s golden (Jill Scott), but always minding my business… so when I find that someone could possibly go out of their way & out of their business to hurt me, I... 🙃

This one might take longer to accept, ngl. 😂

Our parents were right. They gave em to us though, so is it our fault? 🤔 jk… taking responsibility for overindulging in what was created to be overindulged in by intentionally taking more time away lately has reminded me that being offline is so essential for burnout recovery and… life. As a Zillennial, it’s still hard to accept at times though.

Sabbath Saturdays in September ✨

Lately I’ve been focused on ways to incorporate practices to recover from years of burnout & survival mode. So this month I’m setting Saturdays aside to slow down, spend time with God, do things I enjoy, and just… chill.

I know we traditionally think of Sabbath as Sundays, but Sabbath was historically observed from Friday evening into Saturday. I’m choosing Saturday because it fits my life and schedule better right now.

For me, it isn’t about being legalistic about the details but intentionally setting aside time to stop, rest, & worship.

@madisonryannward’s concert with @mrtalkbox was the perfect way to end the day. I’ve never gotten to a concert so early so I was exhausted by the end of the night 🥲 but it truly was worth it. 💖 by @jadadianna_

Actually haven’t been doing the *best* lately, but gotta appreciate the little (and not so little) things. 🙌🏾

life-changing.
must have.
10/10.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

was looking for a new work bag in early June (before it was AS popular) & accidentally became a trendy gworl. ✨

very necessary // will link this in my bio soon 💖

thank you to my parents + the help I got putting this together 💖 the new new apartment is slowly coming along.

I love ice cream. I wanna be ice cream. 🍦

extra shot, thanks. 💚

been over a year; long overdue.

kinda plastic-y ngl, but they hold a battery compared to my AirPods & are comfortable.

still unreal. 🛋️

I got a formal ADHD diagnosis in June. Are we surprised? This stuff is amazing as long as you eat a protein-rich breakfast beforehand.

Today, some plans changed & I ended up @coffeecentralbyethnos — a beautiful coffee shop in Southaven with plenty of space to work (and good coffee, too). I got an iced “Honeycomb” Latte, 1/2 sweet with oat milk (very sweet still, but good). 🤎✨

Thankful for a God who turns detours into the sweetest things. 💫 by @jadadianna_
