Finished up and handed off this puppy portrait to its temporary owner (commissioned for a gift). It's sometimes hard to call a thing work when one gets to sit for a few hours staring down a bunch of photos of a super cute puppy while you paint her. (I actually had to, in good conscience, add a little discount for this reason 😊).

Have a safe and happy weekend all.

Tiniest painting I've ever been hired to do - 5x7 - did the final 3 hours with a magnifier. She treated herself for a graduation gift - didn't really know what she was getting into with costs, I'm thinking just from being so young, but I don't think custom art should just be for the wealthy, so she got about a 75% discount to keep in her budget. But she's a super sweet kid so 🤷‍♀️ There's more to life than money.

My first go at spotted dick - although I don't have any experience with this dessert to even compare it to, I think it turned out well. 😊

Finished another piece earlier this week - much of the time I was working on it I had the children's story/poem "Over in the Meadow..." in my head - so they share its name. ☺️ One painting was commissioned for the office, but it is shared by two people, so I decided to do a second so they wouldn't have to debate who got it later on. This one has some hidden picture elements - including the names of the ladies who own them.

I hope you're all having a safe and happy Friday. Take care and have a great weekend! 🙂🙏

I loved painting ornaments and figurines when I was growing up. I can and do make my own painting projects, but every once and a while I like to buy an unpainted figure and enjoy the nostalgic feeling that i don't get painting my own sculptures.

Although a Stray videogame sequel hasn't even been announced yet (😭) I've been working on this little project to give me a fix while I wait...

So I modified a one-sixth JXK cat figure and sculpted the base and B/12 drone with Milliput, cardstock, a few pieces of Re-Ment rubbish and a couple Legos for the "lights". I shaped the resin clay with the same engraver that I used for scrimshawing - worked like a charm. 🙂👍

Necessity is the mother of invention. Or, if you can't buy it, build it. 😊

Last year, for my birthday, I was gifted a plaster Dia de los Muertos "sugar skull" to paint, but it took months before I had time to work on it, which I think was meant to be because I've always wanted to do scrimshaw and my bestie got me a small, versatile little engraver for Christmas which was perfect for getting in some practice. 🙂 It's been done for a while, but better late than never...

Wound Care themed freelance painting "Where the Wild Wounds Are". 7 days, about 18 hours of work, not counting research - super fun, but glad it's done. 😊

Okay... I don't know how many people will see this, but I'm soooo tired of explaining to people that MN is not full of those batshit crazy terrorists that you all are seeing on the news... These are the 2024 congressional, presidential and county voting maps. And they'd be a lot redder if we didn't have voter fraud and illegals - like most states, I'm guessing.

I see all these people on here asking where the normal people in MN are - well, we're working, we're praying, we're staying out of the way, we're out in the boonies minding our own, embarrassed as hell that our beautiful state is the center of so much scandal... but also, when it comes to the cities, not all that surprised...

Since our situation is not so different from any "blue state", all of this should come as no surprise.

Just found out the rush birthday puppy portrait was delivered (so I can post it without ruining any surprises 🤐). Sounds like it went over well - the best part of the story. 🙂

On Christmas, I finally got to meet my brother's new fur baby, Baxter. It took him forever to get here from Brazil, where my brother met him while working down there. I didn't realize the processes for an animal immigrating were so complicated, but I guess there's good reason for it... Like with people. That being said, thank you @icegov for the great start in cleaning up MN - tens of thousands more to go (seize their assets first!) #GodblessICE 🙏🇺🇸 by @jaimemunt
