Wasn’t planning on a larch march this year, especially with snow arriving early in the mountains and covering the fall colors in a blanket of white 🏔️🍂
.
But we got a little window to catch a glimpse of these golden beauties before the colors fade away! The day started with blue skies and clouds, but as we made our way up the trail, the weather turned moody and snowy.

We summited Mt. Whitney — the highest peak in the contiguous United States (the U.S. mainland) at 14,505 ft (4421 m)! ✌️

WE SUMMITED MOUNT WHITNEY - THE TALLEST IN THE LOWER 48 STATES!

Never imagined in my life, I will be there that too with Jaita! It was barely an ambition to touch and a desire to achieve. But here we are, on a blue-bird sky morning, October 5, we hiked up to the top and came down to the trailhead. Funny enough, we chose this as our first backpacking and first 14er summit!

Jaita and I cannot be thankful enough for this opportunity to these people. @rubaiyet_abedin apu asked me about a month ago if we are interested to summit Mount Whitney as @rezoanamithun apu had couple of spot left in her permit. I said no at the first place. Then 3 weeks back, some things got “sorted” and it seemed like Jaita and I could join. Again, thanks to Rubaiyet apu and Mithun apu for accommodating us and trusting us on this adventure. We couldn’t ask for better companies in our first backpacking and first 14er summit. @nahid_antu was an entertainment all along with his jokes and special stack of snacks!

We went to the top of mountain by an overnight backpacking trip. We hiked ~6.2 miles on the first day from ~8000 feet to Trail Camp campground at ~12000 feet. With barely any sleep, we started our summit push the next morning and made it to ~14505 feet at approximately 10am. Then we came down in one piece after dark. The journey from Trail Camp with a 15+ kg of backpack to the trail head was never-ending. 6.2 miles in a hike never felt this long and strenuous!

And you know what? Elevation really hits hard 😅 taken in Mount Whitney by @jaita_sh

This trail had a fall-colour explosion with huckleberries at every turn 🍂🍇

We hiked our way to the top, snacking on huckleberries the entire way, then made a quick detour to the gorgeous Lake Valhalla!
