We got beautiful weather and the last patch of fall on our hike from Whitney Portal to Trail Camp! 😊

Throwback to early October.

WE SUMMITED MOUNT WHITNEY - THE TALLEST IN THE LOWER 48 STATES!

Never imagined in my life, I will be there that too with Jaita! It was barely an ambition to touch and a desire to achieve. But here we are, on a blue-bird sky morning, October 5, we hiked up to the top and came down to the trailhead. Funny enough, we chose this as our first backpacking and first 14er summit!

Jaita and I cannot be thankful enough for this opportunity to these people. @rubaiyet_abedin apu asked me about a month ago if we are interested to summit Mount Whitney as @rezoanamithun apu had couple of spot left in her permit. I said no at the first place. Then 3 weeks back, some things got “sorted” and it seemed like Jaita and I could join. Again, thanks to Rubaiyet apu and Mithun apu for accommodating us and trusting us on this adventure. We couldn’t ask for better companies in our first backpacking and first 14er summit. @nahid_antu was an entertainment all along with his jokes and special stack of snacks!

We went to the top of mountain by an overnight backpacking trip. We hiked ~6.2 miles on the first day from ~8000 feet to Trail Camp campground at ~12000 feet. With barely any sleep, we started our summit push the next morning and made it to ~14505 feet at approximately 10am. Then we came down in one piece after dark. The journey from Trail Camp with a 15+ kg of backpack to the trail head was never-ending. 6.2 miles in a hike never felt this long and strenuous!

And you know what? Elevation really hits hard 😅

Lindeman Lake!

We went to camping at Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park. Couldn’t miss this small hike to the beautiful lake right across the street from the campground.

We got a sneak peak of the fall colors!

Waterspite Lake, Squamish-Lillooet, BC.

Hike length: 10.8 miles (17.4 km)
Elevation gain: 2336 feet

Beautiful lake even in a moody day! Moderate inclination at 2 boulder fields with some decent elevation gain. Jaita and I were planning to do this hike for a long time but these mixed reviews on road conditions were holding us back. I am glad to be back from this trail without a flat tire. 😁

My take on the drive to the trailhead:
It is HORRIBLE in the last 6-7 kms, some potholes and ditch-like structures but the worst part is sharp gravels. I was able to do fine with my AWD, but people will definitely recommend 4x4 which in my opinion is an overkill though. I have seen Alltrails review that said, an evo did it. I would say it is doable if you go slow but I personally wouldn’t do it. 🤪

Jaita and I had a fun opportunity to volunteer at Summer Music and Fireworks Festival at New Westminster Quay and Broakwalk last weekend organized by @hyackfestivalassociation. It offered live music, food, stalls and finally the fireworks! I had a chance to volunteer as Authorized Media and captured the fireworks finale!

Today is the World Photography Day!

The subjects are the most important part of the photographs and for me, its the easiest choice - my beautiful wife 😋

Thank you for being patient with me and please thank me for being patient with you! 😁

@sonyalpha has been my best buddy last couple of years.

All of these are no-hike lakes in Jasper, where landscapes are now sculpted by 2024 wildfire. Nevertheless, nature has its own power to rebound and heal.

The numerous lakes at Banff National Park are as beautiful as they say, through sunshine, cloud, smoke and whatsoever.

After much anticipation, we were able to check these off our list:

Moraine Lake (required shuttle reservation for Summer 2026)

Lake Louise (required shuttle reservation for Summer 2026)

Peyto Lake (a small walk will take you to the most beautiful lake that looks like a fox/wolf head).

Peyto glacier is so badly receding!

Bow Lake (this valley looks like a different world, would suggest not to park at the viewpoint, rather park at the roadside parking near the lodge and take a small walk to the lake. The 360 view is all worthwhile).

Waterfowl Lakes (there are multiple lakes with multiple viewpoints hence “lakes”).

Lake Minnewanka (largest of all)

Two Jack Lake (seemed like a go-to place for picnic :p )

Herbert Lake (a small walk, the mountain views are insane, the photo cannot do justice honestly)

Vermilion Lakes (the morning was hazy with smoke but it genuinely felt like the serene morning in winter in a village of Bangladesh)

Another throwback to another beautiful waterfalls in “southern” Washington at Gifford Pinchot NF.

Lewis River Falls.

Length: 8.7 miles
Elevation Gain: ~1300ft

Three beautiful waterfalls along the way. You can take a small walk to go down to the lower falls but it was too cold to take a plunge.

Upper Lewis River Falls.

Middle Lewis River Falls

Lower Lewis River Falls

A beautiful waterfalls in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Falls Creek Falls
Length: 6.2 miles
Elevation gain: 1280 feet
Drive time from Seattle: ~4 hours

A short scramble from the viewpoint can take you to the upper “viewpoint” (last photo) where you can see the upper part of the falls really up close! This was one of our bucket-list waterfalls hikes. Glad to check it off the list in the last spring!
