Figured it was about time to lock it down.

I’ve never felt more complete than when Juliette is standing next to me. Her smile and laughter give everyone around her permission to express their own joy authentically and without reservation. I’ve never felt judged. I have only ever felt the permission to be my complete and unedited self. It’s a gift she has given me that I’ll truly never be able to repay her for.

I made a joke within our first week of dating that I would propose by getting out of a hot air balloon on a horse. And if you know me, you know that I commit to bits. I stayed relentlessly committed to this bit for five years. Juliette even went as far as to say, “if there’s no hot air, balloon or horse, I will not say yes.” So I had my work cut out for me.

So with the help of a fake press request email, a homemade hot air balloon, a toy horse, lots of help from Ben and Tucker, and the overwhelming support of new friends and company members at The Great Gatsby… she said yes 💍 taken in Austin, Texas by @jake.david.smith

$Good people of the internet! I’m very sad/frustrated/disappointed to report that I’ve broken my collar bone and fractured my wrist. While these things heal I will unfortunately not be able to tour the country as Jay Gatsby. I love my job and I love that role. I’m truly devastated to not be able to show up to work with my fantastic, hardworking, and talented cast mates. Rest assured I’ll be doing absolutely everything in my power to get back on stage as soon as possible. I love the Great Gatsby, I love my cast, I love our fans and I can’t wait to party with you all again when the time comes. Much love, JDS out 🤙🏻 taken in Hospital for Special Surgery by @jake.david.smith$
