You were once the fittest man in the room.

That man has not gone anywhere.

He just lost the system that kept him there.

This post is for the Armed Forces man or veteran who knows what elite looks and feels like, because he has lived it. Who has watched his standards slip not from laziness, but from a life that stopped giving him structure the moment he needed it most.

Since leaving, or since that desk posting, or since the injury, or since the drinking crept up quietly, the gap between who you were and who you see in the mirror has grown. And the frustrating part is not the weight. It is knowing exactly what you are capable of and not being able to close that gap on your own.

Generic coaching does not understand any of that. A PTI handing you a plan does not fix a drinking culture built into the regiment. It does not fix nutrition shaped by mess halls and deployments. It does not fix an identity that left when the uniform did.

Vanguard is built around all of it.

I am Jake Dear. I am not ex-forces. What I am is the coach that Forces men trust, refer to their mates, and come back to. One referral became two. Two became ten. Ten became over 100 transformations inside this niche specifically.

Men who trust nobody, referring the one coach they trusted.

That pattern built Vanguard.

If you are serving or ex-serving, 25 and above, and you are done sitting on the fence about getting this sorted, swipe through this post.

Then DM me STANDARD.

We will find out if you are a fit.

You don’t need motivation.

You need your edge back.

If you served, and you know you’ve let standards slip, this is for you.

These 20 men didn’t get lucky.

They executed a system refined over:

5+ years coaching Armed & Ex-Forces men.
Nearly a decade coaching at the highest level.

Muscle built properly.
Fat stripped with precision.
Performance restored, not guessed at.

Because this isn’t a generic plan.

It’s structure.

And most men lose that the moment they leave service.

No more routine.
No accountability.
No standard.

You go from trained and dangerous…

To average and distracted.

That’s where I step in.

Programming built for military minds.
Non-negotiable standards.
Direct accountability.
1:1 coaching only.

No group noise.
No recycled templates.
No mass-market nonsense.

You execute.
I correct.
We raise the standard.

This is for the man who knows he’s operating below his potential — and is done tolerating it.

If that’s you:

DM “RECLAIM”.

We rebuild your body.
We reinstall structure.
We restore who you were trained to be.

Standards apply. by @jake.dear

If you’ve served and your fitness has gone to sh*t, keep watching.

You’re not undisciplined. You’re not broken.

The regiment gave you the standard. Now it’s gone — and willpower alone doesn’t replace it.

The free Forces Fat Loss Playbook rebuilds what the military gave you, for the life you’re living now.

DM me PLAYBOOK and I’ll send it straight to you.

It’s a lifestyle. Not a chore.

The moment you start to find purpose and enjoyment in your training is the day you get results and keep them.

Motivation is what people search for. I don’t give clients motivation. I give them results.

Right now you turn up, eat healthy and don’t see results. It’s like going to work and them not paying you. You would quit.

If I hired you and said I would give you £1000 for every day you turned up. You would work weekends.

So motivation is found with results. Results are found by showing up - having structure and a plan.

What’s missing for you is accountability. And I can give you that and more. by @jake.dear

Which stage are you at?

We coach at all levels. All environments.

You might need to make a change because you are a shadow of your former self. Maybe you don’t feel like you are holding an example. Or simply just know your standards have dropped.

It could just be that you want a challenge. That’s what you’re built for. by @jake.dear

Over 100 inquiries in one week. Serving and ex forces, men and women, all telling me the same thing.

You lost the structure. You are chasing weight loss instead of fat loss. Your nutrition is a guessing game. An old injury is calling the shots. And some of you are still ignoring a warning your body already gave you.

None of that gets fixed by trying harder at the wrong thing. It gets fixed with a plan built around your job, your body, and your life. That is the whole job here.

If this is you, share it with someone in your unit. Tag them, send them the post, whatever gets it in front of them. DM me COACH and let’s get you started. by @jake.dear

Two years ago he was lean, fast and strong enough to hold his own on the rugby pitch. Then he joined the army and everything changed. New routine, new environment, and despite training hard as part of the job, the fitness and the physique he used to have started slipping away from him.

That was the part that frustrated him most. He was still in a physically demanding role, still training, still turning up, and yet the weight kept creeping on. Rugby suffered. His job suffered. He looked at himself and knew exactly who he used to be, he just could not work out how to get back there.

He tried for two years on his own. Home cooked meals with no real structure, gym sessions with no real plan, a week of effort followed by no results and back to the same routine. He wanted a specific diving course within the army but the weight and BMI requirements ruled him out before he could even apply. He was not confident enough to take his shirt off at the beach and was buying 2XL and 3XL just to feel comfortable in his own clothes.

Watching Tukz, another serving Fijian lad, go through the same process with me and come out the other side unrecognisable was what finally moved him. If Tukz could do it while serving, so could he.

From week one, everything was managed for him. What he ate at the Scoff house, what he trained, how he adjusted around his knee injury and his job, all of it built around his life rather than a generic plan. Every single week the scale moved, and every single week he saw it for himself.

Over 25kg down in six months. A six pack he had not had since before the army. His running back up where it used to be. He is not hiding under oversized kit anymore, and he is not wondering if people are watching him at the gym.

If you are serving or prior service and you recognise any part of his story, message me “COACHING” and let us talk about what your process could look like. by @jake.dear

123kg to 94kg. 20+ weeks. No crash diets. No shortcuts. Just a system built for real life.

THE SITUATION

Tuks used to lead from the front. Rugby. Strong. Fast. Explosive.

Then came a knee injury, a baby just five months old, and the relentless pace of life as an inspector in Cyprus.

His words. This isn’t me. I used to lead from the front. I’ve lost my speed. I’ve lost the edge.

He wasn’t chasing fat loss. He wanted to look like a leader again, and perform like one too.

THE SYSTEM

No generic plan. We built one that respected his culture, his workload and his values.

Meals out with the family stayed in the plan. Cypriot cuisine, weekend meals, time with his kids, all accounted for.

No chicken and rice meal prep. Real food. Real flexibility. Even ice cream and pizza stayed on the table, and the weight still came off every week.

Structure, not restriction. That is the difference.

THE RESULT

29kg down. But the number was never the point.

Faster. Stronger. Fitter. Mentally back in the fight.

His words. Even my mates I served with can’t believe the difference. The old me’s back.

THE STANDARD

Family. A demanding job. A social life. You do not have to sacrifice any of them to operate at your standard.

Structure beats motivation. Performance over aesthetics. Discipline creates identity.

That is the Vanguard system.

If you are serving or Ex Forces, and you know you are not operating at your standard right now, dm me STANDARD by @jake.dear
