⚽️🍻 – Rage Against The Dying Of The Light: The Case For Playing Football Into Your 30s.

Seven seasons, one double, a questionable set of knees and absolutely no intention of calling it a day.

We spoke to Jake Nolan, founder of Sefton Park Rangers, about keeping a grassroots club alive, growing up without growing out of the game, and why there’s still nothing better than playing with your mates on a Saturday.

I’m having a quarter life crisis and started a Substack.

It feels abit nicer on there than here.

Not sure what this is fully yet but I know what it isn’t. It’s not naval gazy Diary of the CEO stuff. It’s not self help bollocks. It’s not me flogging you something or trying to be a tik tok head - whatever the opposite to that is , it’s that.

3 years married to @lozza.white .

Easy in Top 1% of people. Mothers. Partners. Real house wives watches on the planet earth.

A generational holding midfielder who somehow keeps everything ticking over without ever asking for the applause, dishing out bollockings (largely) when they are deserved whilst her heart is always in the right place.

A Scotty Road Simeone.

I’d be lost without you.

Happy anniversary ❤️ by @jakegerardnolan

@jakegerardnolan did his very first radio show with us 5½ years ago on our first ever broadcast.

Time really does fly.

It’s great to have the big man back behind the decks, serving up some lovely sounds once again.

@adidasfootball x @celticfc 26/27. ✅

A lifetime’s worth of references, countless calls, meetings, plenty of trips up the road, a few chicken zingers on paradise and a pilgrimage to Lisbon (which meant I missed my only game of last seasons SPR IIs double winning campaign)

A special gig and a proper team effort from some unbelievably talented people channeling the lions themselves.

Mon the hoops 💚💚💚

I started a football club with my mates 7 years ago in the area I love and call home.

In that time we’ve gone from 1 lads team that got beat every game of our first season to having successful mens and women’s teams competing right across the amateur landscape in the North West.

We’ve done some cool stuff with the likes of @adidasfootball and @sevenstorehq and above all else raised plenty for charities which I’m most proud of..

In the 7 years I’ve been chairman, coached our men’s and women’s sides, played, been sub, washed the kits, done the instagram, got married, had a kid, bought a house and started @allourfriendsco using of the same community values we built at @spr_cfc which serves us so well.

One thing I hadn’t done though was win a league as a player. Which if I’m honest has always bugged me.

So that one felt very nice.

Look at all our grids, absolutely made up, not just the players but the people who make up the club.

Something I realised on Saturday was it’s not the trophy you celebrate winning but it’s the people you win it with and the journey you go on together.

I think that might just be what it’s all about my mates.
