VTXL Fastest Know Time 20 hours & 6 minutes
Huge thanks to my parents for supporting, driving and making lots of stops to keep me fueled.

Wild ride. No mechanicals. No hiccups. No wrong turns. Fun to smash this out with proper fueling.

The amount of loose dogs on this routes was insane.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen! taken in Vermont by @jakeinger

Decided to bail on the Rockstar gravel route. 45° and raining was just making the route slow and draining. The water and river crossings were large, mud and dirt were sticky and it was becoming a battle to keep going. My power was good but my times were slow. Onto the next in a couple of weeks! by @jakeinger

@badlandscc 9th place
507 miles. ~51,600 ft of climbing. Self-supported, through the badlands of Andalusia, Spain. 9th place in a stacked field.
Amazing ride through southern Spain. I love coming here to train, and it was great to finally race here too. This was my first time racing outside the United States, and the level of cycling in Europe is on another planet.
Rode most of the race alongside @swilliamandrews . Having someone to share the language barriers, weird food, and endless course with made a huge difference. Rough terrain (bar tape did not survive), and a course that never seemed to end. Once we got out of Granada and into the rural towns, resupply got tricky. Stores were closed or hard to find, and water fountains were scarce. One time I tried to order a sandwich to go and got a huge plate of pasta with meat and cheese instead. Ate what I could but didn't come close to finishing it.
On the last night, I got stopped by a farmer who told me to go around (or something, my Spanish isn't there yet). Tried translating on my phone but it wasn't working. Lost about 20 minutes before Sam rolled up and we just blasted by together.
Hot as hell doesn't cover it. My Garmin read 120°F for most of the day. That heat made it brutally hard to eat. Cramping early on, struggling to keep food down. Maybe dehydration, maybe something I ate, not sure. The last 10-11 hours I couldn't keep anything down and threw up a few times.
Sleep strategy was two 10-minute naps. In hindsight this distance is an awkward one. Not quite long enough to justify a long sleep block, but long enough that a bit more rest might've let me push harder overall. Something to dial in next time.
Biggest lesson: racing abroad isn't just a harder version of racing at home, it's a different sport. Nutrition, logistics, even reading the terrain, all of it works differently, and I paid for not adapting fast enough.
Somehow still landed 9th, with Sam right there for most of it. More photos to come from the race! taken in Granada, Spain by @jakeinger

OBC & Wild Maine sponsored rider @jakeinger just set the Fastest Known Time (FKT) across the VTXL!

In just 20 hours and 6 minutes, Jake accomplished something that takes most riders 4–5 days.

🚲 301 miles across Vermont
⛰️ 33,000 feet of climbing
🪨 95% gravel and off-road
🍟 20,000 calories burned
🫩 Zero sleep, with just 26 minutes off the bike to grab food and drinks
🐕 Hardest part: getting chased by dozens of dogs
🍻 Best part: watching the sun come up and cracking a Tubular after the ride

Jake is an incredibly talented and gritty rider, and a genuinely great guy. This is an absolutely incredible accomplishment, and we’re stoked to support him and everything he does on a bike.
