2025 didn’t pull back on its punches! Some of them were heavy and tested me, stretched me, forced me to show up in ways I didn’t always feel ready for.

But even in the middle of that… something real was happening.

I got more time with these two. More moments I didn’t take for granted. More chances to slow down and actually be there.

They’ve been teaching me in real time, patience when I had none left, perspective when things felt off balance, and how to find light even on the days that felt heavy.

The truth is, some of the hardest seasons quietly make room for what matters most.

I didn’t ask for all the lessons 2025 brought… but I’ll carry what it gave me forever—especially this time with them. by @jakerojas

It’s hard to even find the words for this.

With an incredibly heavy heart, we’re sharing that Tallulah’s Taqueria in Fox Point is closing this week.

Since 2014, this space at 146 ives st has been a piece of our lives — not just a restaurant, but a home for community. A place that started from a simple hope that people could gather somewhere warm, welcoming, and real.

And somehow… you all made that hope come true.

Providence gave us the chance to create, to inspire, to build something bigger than tacos something full of connection. We will always be proud of what Tallulah’s became, and of the love that lived inside its walls.

But the truth is, continuing forward doesn’t make sense anymore.

Not because we stopped caring — but because life is asking something different of me now.

I want more time with family.
More slowness.
More presence.
More room for the relationships I want to carry into the future.

Letting go of Tallulah’s is painful. This place gave our family opportunities we never could have imagined. It allowed us to grow with Providence and be a small part of what makes this city so special.

Closing this chapter feels like a loss… because it is.

But it is not the end.

This is not goodbye. This is see you soon.

To everyone who’s checked in, sent love, or just held me in their thoughts — thank you. Starting this fight with throat cancer has been heavy, but the support I’ve felt from friends, family, and my community has been real. Every message, every small gesture, has meant more than I can explain. I’m taking it one day at a time, and I’m not doing it alone.
