Thank you @snackbarroyale for hosting us this morning. Amazing spot in Jamestown. Coffe, ice cream, food and a view you can’t beat. As always I appreciate everyone for coming out.

Our friend Jake has been through the absolute ringer this past year: personally, professionally and health wise. He has for sure taught US what resilience looks like, this guy is literally “forged in fire”!

His new venture @snackbarroyale in Jamestown, RI is where you want to stop after the beach in your wrinkled linen, flip flops and salty hair! Surrounded by the ocean, it’s got such a chill fun vibe and always filled with cool people......should we say James Beard multi-year nominated chef, James Beard award winning beverage director behind the bar some days, and many of the hospitality cool kids in RI can be found here, you might even find them going for a swim!

......simple and oh so fresh menu, fun yet serious wines (yes ask for ours), and of course what’s summer without frozen drinks?

.....and because nothing can stop this guy an ice cream shop next door as well.

Last Thursday, The Shipwright’s Daughter had the extraordinary privilege of being part of something truly special down at River Bar in Westerly, RI.

A Dinner for Jake drew together an incredible group of chefs, donors, and neighbors — and what struck us most wasn’t the talent in the room, though there was plenty of it. It was the generosity. The willingness of people to come together and show up for one another, which somehow feels like a rare thing in this fast-paced world.

The evening was made beautiful by so many generous hands: @echo_rock_flowers brought the most stunning florals, @squigglerentals transformed the tables into something out of a dream, and @toutonselection & @mancinibeverage kept the wine flowing in the best possible way 🍷🌷✨. And to the chefs who poured their hearts onto every plate: @cheftyleranderson, @evanhennessey, @jameswayman, River Bar’s Executive Chef Kevin English, and our own @chefdavidstandridge, we are endlessly grateful .🙏

A special thank you to James and the entire River Bar family for opening your doors and including us in such a meaningful night. Evenings like this are a reminder of just how much we can do for one another when we come together, and we are so grateful to have been part of it.

To everyone who came, who gave, who cooked, and who cared, and to Jake, we’re with you. 🤍

This past week our very own @bob.florence and @debbi_michiko_florence had the pleasure of attending A Dinner For Jake at @riverbarwesterly — a wonderful fundraising dinner for @jakerojas with a 5-course dinner made by talented chefs: @chefdavidstandridge @cheftyleranderson @evanhennessey , River Bar’s executive chef Kevin English, and our own @jameswayman

In the dish that @jameswayman created, he used our saishakomi shoyu (meaning “twice brewed”) and our fermented cayenne hot sauce. His dish was prepared with beets, avocado leaf, and sesame.

All proceeds of this fundraising dinner went towards helping Jake during his battle with throat cancer. We have linked his gofundme in our bio in the case that you are moved to make a donation 🤎
