Hey folks, @re.unionmusicfest is comin in hot! 🔥This intimate festival is happening at a beautiful spot in unceded Sinixt təmxʷúlaʔxʷ this weekend, May 15th-17th 2026. @dose.productions put an extraordinary amount of love into this little fest, which gathers creatives from across the Kootenays and beyond. I’m excited to be playing tunes for the Friday night locals showcase alongside many other Kootenay folks. I'll be spinning the closing slot from 12:15-1am featuring some tasty selections from my record collection. MIDNIGHT AFFAIR - SOLD OUT

Join us for a night where the beats of liberation reverberate throughout the room, & a kaleidoscope of color, love, rhythm, & resistance lifts our bodies, minds & spirits. MIDNIGHT AFFAIR is a celebration of the history of disco as both a musical revolution & political movement. From its roots in the underground clubs of NYC to its role empowering Black, Latino & LGBTQ+ communities, this party honors disco as a sanctuary of inclusiveness & resistance against oppression.

Disco was born in the late 60s & gained popularity in the 70s as a response to racism, homophobia & economic hardship. Emerging from the Stonewall Riots & Civil Rights Movements, discotheques became a space where marginalized groups could express themselves freely. Clubs like The Loft & Paradise Garage were more than just dance floors—they were safe havens where identities were celebrated & bigotry was left at the door. Disco’s pulsating rhythms & euphoric melodies were acts of defiance, blending Black music traditions with futuristic sounds to create anthems of joy & resilience. Despite disco's rise being met with racist, sexist & homophobic backlash, its influence persisted, laying the foundation for dance music genres like house & techno.

This party is more than just a celebration. It’s a tribute to the resilience of communities that resist through music. By dancing & expressing our joy authentically, we honour the pioneers who fought for freedom through rhythm & joy. So grab your dancing shoes & join us for a night where every step on the dance floor is an act of celebration & solidarity!

As the darkest days approach, join duo CLOAK & DAGGER and their comrade JAKOB with special guest CAMERON. for an uncanny third installment of SHADOWPLAY, Saturday December 20th in the basement of Kootenay Coop Radio.

This dark music event takes its name from the iconic track off of Joy Division’s debut album Unknown Pleasures. The band’s intervention in 1979 was a game changer that inspired many genres of unique auditory exploration, such as darkwave, EBM, industrial, new wave, post-punk, and goth rock. The night will feature vintage and contemporary releases on vinyl from a variety of these mesmerizing and mysterious musical genres.

This vinyl mix is the 1st transmission in the Underground Frequencies Operation series, which explores the darker, more mysterious corners of electronic music (link in bio). It spans the genres of acid, darkwave, ebm, electro, industrial, & techno. Some are classics from the late 80s & early 90s, while others are contemporary releases pushing the envelope of underground music. This is the first attempt at recording this mix, so it isn't perfect. But maybe, like the minor imperfections that give records their charm, unsynced transitions are where the magic is.

This series utilizes a dystopian sci-fi aesthetic to comment on current realities & possible futures. The ascendency of far-right forces to the heights of Western political office is a frightening recurrence, but, due to the systemic nature of capitalism & the continuation of colonialism, comes as no surprise. Trump's renewed attacks on migrants & refugees is horrifying. People are being murdered & snatched from the streets by masked men, entire families & communities are being torn apart, & thousands of people are being disappeared. This is FASCISM. Ruling classes are utilizing militarized borders, police, & prisons in an attempt to address the crises of capitalism. Migrant justice activist @harshawalia8 calls this border imperialism, which is enforced through "imperial subjugation, criminalization of migration, racialized hierarchy of citizenship, and state-mediated exploitation of labor."

In so-called "Canada", PM Mark Carney is also implementing an anti-migrant agenda for the ruling classes. Bill C-12 is described by migrant justice organizations as a "mass deportation and xenophobia bill". According to @migrantrightsca, it will block refugee asylum claims (incl. those fleeing the US), expand government power to cancel permits accelerating mass deportations, & remove privacy for asylum seekers opening up further possibilities for abuse. It is our responsibility to demand restitution & reparations for populations displaced by Western imperialism & climate breakdown. Stand up & fight back against this anti-immigrant bigotry!
