A few pictures from a recent trip to play on the A537 between Buxton and Macclesfield (aka the Cat and Fiddle, after the pub). Using the route I like to take it's about 90 mins away from where I live, but the roads are fun on the way so it's worth doing when the weather is good. I've been out there enough now that the distance and time doesn't phase me any more. The third pic is for the bikers. if you know, you know 🤔😉😁

The action shots were taken by @bikerpicsuk. I had a few runs back and forth past their photographer so there were plenty of shots to choose from. These were my favourites. I'll have to use some more lean angle next time!

Looking towards Macclesfield from the Cat and Fiddle Inn. Great views. Nice road. Shame about the speed cameras. As the biking season starts drawing to a close in England I've got to take advantage of the dry and sunny evenings whilst they're still here. The weather app says 11C but the wind makes it feel like 5. I need some warm gloves.

1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution

Not your usual homologation special! I'm a big fan of road cars that exist purely so a manufacturer could go racing, and this is one of the more peculiar ones. Mitsubishi built this so they could compete in off-road endurance racing, namely the Dakar Rally (note the graphic on the B-pillar). 3.5 litre V6 with 275hp, double wishbone independent front suspension, bulging bodywork, and some actually quite cool looking aero additions along with cool rally stuff like massive mud flaps make this thing immeasurably more desirable than the standard car on which it's based. Roughly 2500 were built between '97 and '99 and they were never officially imported to the UK so they're a pretty rare sight for me. I could count the number I've seen in the wild on one hand and have a couple of fingers to spare! This one made me turn around and park somewhere pretty questionable so I could get a few shots. Totally worth it.

A good start today. Waiting for a specific tool and various parts and consumables. The engine will be out in due course, then the real work of splitting the crank case and opening it up starts. Hopefully the issue I've diagnosed turns out to be correct!

Honda VTR1000 SP2 RC51

Homologation specials aren't just for cars. The SP2 was an updated version of Honda's homologation bike for the World Superbikes In the early 00's.

The SP1/2 was the result of Honda wanting to take the fight to Ducati's dominance in the 90s in the hands of Carl Fogarty. They decided to drop their 750cc V4 in favour of a V-twin, taking advantage of the additional 250ccs allowed for v-twins in the WSB rules.

I arrived at this location probably an hour too late, despite it being 45 mins prior to sunset. I hadn't factored in the local terrain and how that would affect the timing of the sunset! It was a bit of a smash & grab but I'm still pretty happy with this one. I still feel very rusty but I'm still encouraged by the results, so I'm going to keep visiting locations around here and see what I can come up with.

1993 Jaguar XJS

Facelift model. This particular one has the 4 litre straight-6. Such a cool design. Sadly no picture of their most recognisable feature - the buttresses!

I'll apologise now for the poor quality of some of the upcoming images as they're stills taken from video. I don't know when they changed the android camera app from a proper continuous shutter burst mode when you hold the shutter down, but I miss it. Not a fan of this picking a frame out of a video stuff.

Vauxhall Monaro VXR

Also sold in Australia as the Holden Monaro and the US as the Pontiac GTO. This one has a 6 litre LS2 engine (Chevrolet V8) with 400 horsepower. There was a "VXR 500" run-out model too, wish was supercharged.

By all accounts a decent car, particularly from a cost per performance perspective, but it didn't really cotton on here due to our stupid fuel prices, and more than a little bit of badge snobbery. Fewer than 400 of these on UK roads.

Reliant Scimitar GTC

Only 422 built between '80 and '86. A lot of them still exist but most of those aren't on the road. I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild.

A bit of a departure from my usual content, but I figured I'd share it here.

I haven't done any landscape photography for a long time, but I went to Cornwall recently and took my gear and kinda forced myself to go and do some. I'd been checking weather apps and cloud cover and had hoped for a more colourful sunset, but the clouds never lit up. I'm still happy enough. It feels good to knock off the rust. Can't decide if it's over-edited. Probably is.

There will probably be more landscape stuff coming, as well as the car spots. I've got a bunch to sort through.
