All designs are made up of fragments of my personal interests;
from Fine artist Cy Twombly, to old medical pamphlets and quotes from the letters of Carl Jung, with an over arching appreciation for craft and material.
Each collage works off of spontaneity and freedom whilst witholding a level of focus towards complimenting the body
(which will become more relevant through the booking process).

Artists that I have been into recently:

Pat Steir
&
Donald Judd

Stein's main focus was on the medium of painting and how she could create beauty whilst removing the ego of the artist.
She was mainly known for her 'Waterfall Paintings' amply named after their waterfall like appearance and application. By letting the paint drip from the top of the canvas, Steir aimed to achieve a removal of the human touch, as the paint (with the help of gravity) would move in its own manner. Sometimes she would leave the studio and come back in the next morning exclaiming "Looking what the paint did!" She never mixed colours, she let them mix optically on the canvas. Any time you see a solid background it's not, it's a build up of dripped layers so dense that it feels solid. Steir's philosophy of work with further enforced by her friendship with fellow artist Agnes Martin, who is someone I have greatly admired for years.

Judd on the other hand was not a painter but mainly work in object building (as he denounced the title of sculpter)
His focus was to work and highlight a materials materiality, using aluminium and plywood amongst many others to convey certain tones to the works. Something that I truly love about Judd was his initiative to get his point across and to truly effect the art industry. His permanent collection within the rural Texas town of Marfa, where he demonstrates the inter-relationship between man and the world.
Known as a minimalist, Judd seemed to see himself more as a maximalist as the theories and standards the work developed upon were more than simply minimal.

What the two artists have in common which is where my interests lie is in their appreciation of material and their lack of desire for the ego. Both aimed to remove the human hand from their work, whether they achieved this goal I believe is still up for debate, but the notion itself is powerful and admirable. They both dedicated themselves to their chosen materials and pushed away from over educated, over theorised, hidden concept based philosophies for a realest outlook, something that feels more in tune with nature, as we seem to forget as human that we a part of nature, not apart from it. taken in London by @james.l.sharp

Tattoo Explained:

I searched through many books in my home, to write a sweet poem for my brother.
Books I find to be interesting, that I associate with him as well as paintings that I adore.

The words/ phrases are chosen for both their aesthetic and rhythmic value. Each piece fitting together naturally, sifting through thousands of words spoken before until it feels correct.
The Pipe's elongated and narrow appearance thought in relation to the body, in a way to compliment the flow, not to crowd it.
