It’s been six months since the biggest anti-racist march in British history.

A day of hope, joy and beauty, captured by @jamesoses 🖌️

💚 Marching protesters in a colorful watercolor illustration holding placards opposing the far right—slogans read "We've been here before," "Stop the far right," and "Women against the far right," conveying solidarity and resistance. by @jamesoses

Drawing on location at the Notting Hill Carnival on Monday.

I found a spot on the parade route not far from Portobello Road. It was so lively, then 10 mins in all the action disappeared - I’d unknowingly picked the last leg of the parade to draw. Doh! A long wait for them to return, so in the meantime I focused on the surrounding buildings with their boarded up windows, and the police hovering on the corner.

The guy on the right wearing the Jamaica t shirt showed up out of nowhere and started dancing and striking poses - ‘where am I!’ he shouted pointing at the picture. I usually just politely laugh when this happens, but decided to get drawing instead! Once I finished, I got a thumbs up then he disappeared into the crowds. It’s these little encounters I really love about drawing on location…

Drawing, painting, and collaging from 120 Fenchurch Street yesterday…

An old stone tower in the middle of a huge building site opposite caught my eye when I looked down.

Apparently the tower - All Hollows Staining - dates back to 1320 predating the Great Fire of London. It’s currently on stilts suspended in mid air while the works continue.
