Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night, or What You Will” is a bawdy romantic comedy where Viola has fallen in love with Orsino, Orsino loves Olivia, and Olivia loves Viola disguised as Cesario. Phew.

This was one of my very first posters. I was the art director for a group called the Shakespeare Project in NYC, we took theater everywhere it was missing, performing Shakespeare in parks and outdoor venues around New York City. We even performed “The Taming of the Shrew”—a story about spousal abuse— in women’s shelters.

Because our schedule varied and venues changed, I was freed from putting any times or dates on the page— we only wrote in huge letters: TODAY! 2PM! and hung them up around whatever park we were playing.

In the posters for this project, I tried to stay away from the cliché of anything Shakespearean, I feel people fear the language, and I wanted to introduce a new audience to Shakespeare’s work.

“Twelfth” is a one color silk screen print on 100% eggshell rag cotton.

24”X35” and as of yet unsigned

This print is very rare with only two prints available and is a beauty in real life.

In “Letters to a Young Poet” Rilke had an extraordinary piece of advice to “Live the questions now.”

His request was not to answer the questions, but to live them. To turn theory into action and make philosophy—or thinking—concrete. This is philosophy’s purpose, to bring you to a new reality.

Because most of us carry around a laundry list of questions and WHAT IFs; “What if I made that thing? What if I changed direction? What if I stopped doing shit I hate? What if I trusted myself? What if I started over?”

And then we do that thing we are very good at— come up with all the usual reasons not to act; “I can’t. It’s too late. What about the money? What would people think?”

But what if
for four days, you didn’t answer those questions? What if you lived them? What if you got to experience yourself differently. And new.

I think this is what The Return is really about. Because your life isn’t finished being written.

For four days in Cape Cod stop explaining and start living. Live as if the life you imagine is already done.

The Return is a four-day experiment to discover something your normal life may be preventing you from seeing.

Brian Collins (Founder and CCO of COLLINS) and I have created a place in time where you can step outside your normal life long enough to experience another one. Not a vacation or conference, but a temporary new reality. A place to see the life you keep asking yourself about.

You don’t need another answer, you need to live the question.

Four days. Cape Cod.
One month from now.
There are a few seats left.

This is what we colloquially call “The Force.” It’s the energy you contain with your thoughts and actions. Nietzsche viewed his ideas as an explosive power meant to shatter traditional Christian morality and old societal values. Use yours to create your own reality—conscious creation. Because if you are not creating your own reality every fucking day, you are living someone else’s.

We built a trap.

We’ve been focused on developing skills, but failed to stop and ask, “Who am I? What do I want?”

Skills are about what you can do, but LIFE is what you really care about.

Come, spend four days away from normal answering that question with new friends and mentors who’ll help you burn away any false ego or mask so you can find your true self.

Join myself and Brian Collins by the fire.

I’ll bring the petrolđŸ”„.

Cape Cod.
October 29–November 1.

If you are choosing to use Generative AI in your creative work, here is a PARTIAL list of what you are complicit in:

1. Supporting ugly humans. Most technology leaders are proving themselves to not only be greedy hoarders, but they are quite frankly some of the most horrible people on earth —a billionaire boy’s club with links to known pedophiles and genocide with no expressed thought or care to the longterm effect of their work on humanity.

2. Fuck the environment and water. AI runs on massive physical footprint with massive electricity consumption and enormous water usage for cooling data centers.

3. Data (Surveillance) Centers,The same infrastructure that enables AI also enables unprecedented government monitoring of the public with facial and biometric recognition at massive scale used to sell your information and to control your communications, movements, and behavior. These facilities are also being thrust on already impoverished black and brown communities.

4. Fuck Your Intellectual Property or Consent. Most generative AI systems were trained on enormous amounts of human-created work. My own books were scraped to inform this beast. This means stolen work from artists, writers, photographers, and musicians with no permission or compensation.

5. Economic Displacement. Historically, technology eliminated some jobs while creating others. The question is not whether AI creates wealth, the question is who receives it.

6. What Happens to Our Children? This is the most important concern of all because it is the longest-term one. For thousands of years, human beings developed themselves through struggle, experimentation, failure, boredom, curiosity, and discovery. These experiences built resilience, judgment, imagination, and self-reliance. The real question is not what AI does today, but what kind of humans it produces tomorrow.

Now, tell me, what possible lazy-ass reason could you have for inviting AI into your life?

Fuck generative AI and fuck designers and artists who ignorantly choose to use these tools (insert smiley face emoji here). by @jamesvictore

There are people who want to improve, and those who are searching.

Searching for courage, for their best work and searching for themselves.

Those are the people who come to Cape Cod.

Something extraordinary happens when people are willing to be honest—to take off their armor and tell the truth.

This letter from a Return guest says it better than I can:

“I’ve been sitting with this uneasy feeling in my stomach. That voice that says: You’re creative, but not as creative. You’re smart, but not as smart. You have courage, but not quite enough.

I’ve been reflecting on it, and I’ve realized the fix isn’t just about being fearless or saying “fuck it—take me as I am.” That feels too easy, too performative. One cannot simply flatten the journey into a triumph. I have to honor the complexity: the admiration, the envy, the fatigue, the growth. I’m still a student. I’ll always be working at it.

For me, this is really about making a commitment to the craft. To doing the work.

It means doing a Johnny—drawing something every week that responds to the world.
It means doing a Chelsea—baring your soul / sole and being radically vulnerable.
It means doing an Adriane—engaging deeply with the world around you and showing up, fully present.
It means doing a Gabriel— interrogating yourself, asking the hard questions, turning them inward, and refusing easy answers.
It means doing a Damion—transforming pain into something creative, and offering it back to the world with generosity.

It means doing what all of you do—bringing your whole body, your whole mind, to this work. This is not a left-brain exercise. This is a full-body endeavor.

The only way to get better is to be surrounded by better—to be challenged, inspired, provoked and sharpened by others who are just as committed. I’ve learned so much from each of you. —AS”

The truth is, we don’t know what will happen at the Cape. Because the magic isn’t Brian Collins and me—it’s the people who show up.

Four days with a handful of people who care enough to bare themselves, sit in the uncomfortable, and search like hell for what’s true.

Come sit by the fire. We’ll search together.
