Check out what I unboxed beachside on Sunday morning… šŸ‘€

My book has arrived!

Like… my actual, real-life, hold-it-in-your-hands BOOK.

I was so freaking fracking excited to open this beautiful box of books I genuinely didn’t know what to do with myself.

Because LOOK.

It’s real, folks.

My words are on paper.

There are pages.

There is a beaut cover that says HI thanks @jamesvictore

Epic design by @judy_andrews_

I’ve only been banging on about this for approximately 400 years. šŸ˜‚

I wrote a book.

I WROTE A BOOK.

And now it exists IRL.

I’m feeling a fairly BIG mixture of proud, emotional, slightly terrified and WTchuff right now.

Do Volunteer: Find Community and Make an Impact launches in January with @dobookco but you can pre-order it now.

Pre-order link in bio.

I will now be staring lovingly at this box for the foreseeable future.

Over and out. šŸ“ššŸ’™

Oh hi there šŸ‘‹ We have a new title to announce!

Excited to share that in January we’ll publish ā€˜Do/ Volunteer: Find community and make an impact’ by Toni Finnimore.

Toni is the founder of @thesocialsocietyuk — a volunteering and events company that makes giving back simple, local and fun. We met her at last year’s @thedolectures where she was part of the brilliant team of volunteers (see image 3). Over her lunch break she told us how she’d been working in the charity and public sectors for over 20 years and that current models weren’t working. Help was needed but first she had to challenge the idea of volunteering as something dusty, dutiful or done with a broom.

Enter micro-volunteering. An hour here, an afternoon there. A specific skill offered when and where it’s actually needed. It means you start to give back in a way that’s fun — because it’s aligned with your skills and those things you feel passionately about, it’s more effective, and it’s sustainable.

Toni brings this to life with her infamous ā€˜hackathons’ with organisations like @1percentftp and @blueearthsummit where she brings together a room full of people and matches sharp skills with real environmental challenges — and results delivered by lunchtime. If you’re interested the next one is during Climate Week in New York, Sept 21st!

The book itself reframes volunteering, champions its value and ā€˜lights a path for how to get involved’ for both individuals and businesses. It’s for anyone who wants to give back but feels too busy, unsure or underqualified (clue: you’re not)

Excited to have this as part of the collection. We’ll share more over the coming weeks and months, including a cover quote from national volunteering ambassador (and national treasure) Anneka Rice.🄰
