✨ What a day! Myself and the wonderful Nick Park were invited to Apple’s HQ inside Battersea Power Station… where we met Apple CEO Tim Cook… and then HRH King Charles! Nick and myself then watched the Wallace & Gromit Shot on iPhone projection outside together… finishing off the evening by giving a talk about the project at Apple’s beautiful flagship store on Regent Street!

Thank you @apple, thank you @aardmananimations, thank you Nick, thank you @thewallaceandgromit . That is a day I’ll never, ever forget! ❤️✨ by @jamfactory

Oh boy, I am so SO proud & honoured to say that I’ve been the Director of Wallace & Gromit - Shot on iPhone. A festive @aardmananimations stop frame animation for @apple, shot entirely on iPhone 16 Pro Max’s, projected 101 metres tall onto the iconic Battersea Power Station! It’s projecting every night in December from 5-10.30pm!!

It has been the project of a lifetime with *the* most incredibly kind, incredibly skilled crew. I’ll be doing lots more posts soon, tagging everyone properly, but for starters please know that the team that crafted this thing, from every rivet on the contraption to every minute movement of a puppet to every production item on the schedule, were the greatest people to work with. It’s a project I’ll never forget!

Our friends at Apple have been amazing too, they have been such enthusiastic partners in all of this, always elevating the ambition of what can be done with the project and throwing all their energy behind it, it’s been incredible!

There’s so much more to this project I can’t wait to share, but after a brilliantly bonkers 4 days getting ready to launch this project, I’m ready to grab some sleep but for now please do have a look at apple.com/uk/apple-christmas-trees/

We turned our ‘MF LAGOON’ design into an A3 print using the Risograph printer here at PLYFLD HQ! Riso always looks good, with the beautiful little artefacts and happy misalignment that inevitably happens. A lil’ story: 20 years ago I lived in a flat just behind this venue with @richtpaint. New to Bristol, I made Rich take me to the Aardman studios, just so I could see them and marvel in the gravitational pull of the magic that place created. It blows my tiny mind that two decades later I’d be standing on the stage of that venue, in front of 1,000 people, hosting the 50th birthday celebrations of Aardman with Sir David Sproxton, Sir Peter Lord and Nick Park on-stage with many many more collaborators and legends in the audience. It was a huge honour to play MC for the evening, talking to the fellas about theirs and the studio’s accomplishments over half a century! I’ve been at @aardmananimations nearly 19 years now, thanks to popping in for that first cuppa with @efergan all those years ago. Thank you Aardman, thank you all the wonderful people I’ve had the honour of working with and here’s to 50 more. Happy Birthday Aards! 🎉🎂🎁 taken in Bristol Beacon by @jamfactory

PINBALL IS FOR THE CHILDREN! My nine-year-old is designing his own virtual pinball table in VPX, “Froggy pinball”! He’s come up with the layout, I’m helping him iterate and develop different shots, and he’s then making the art on the iPad in procreate. It’s lovely working with him on it, it’s a really nice collaborative thing to bounce off each other, we play other machines and pinch the best ideas (hence the left outlane flipper save - thanks Bon Jovi!). Who knows, maybe we’ll go all the way and make it to a homebrew! 🐸

A ‘GRND CHMPN’ 1st Place trophy for @silosays pinball tournament this weekend at @playback_arcade in Bristol! Taking our ‘Lil GC’ character from 2D vector in Adobe Illustrator to a 3D model using Blender. He’s then 3D printed on the Bambu Labs A1 Mini then has a special silver & gold paint job courtesy of our good friend and killer artist James Grant. Looking forwards to seeing who takes this trophy home with them! 🏆

Me and @waste_studio are having a blast with our pinball-inspired venture @p_l_y_f_l_d - what originally started out as organising an art exhibition / pinball play night has morphed into us making, well, anything we want! Each night after work we’re plotting and planning and designing and experimenting and just getting lost in the process. None of that AI nonsense here thanks, the middle messy part is the best bit, as we’re just exploring ideas and teaching ourselves new techniques. Anyways, here’s some XL-sized pinball flippers we designed and 3D printed, because we could! 😂 excitingly though, they’re also going to be prizes for @silosays’ pinball tournament happening in Bristol next weekend! Follow us on @p_l_y_f_l_d for more creative exploration and nonsense you didn’t know you needed!

Love getting a fresh roll of 35mm film back from the lab! We shot some stills of the screenprinting process on our beloved Leica M6 with the nifty 50mm Summicron lens on Portra 400 ❤️ The attraction to analogue photography is the same as the attraction to pinball; it’s tactile, it’s sensory and it’s surprising.

🔊 Sound On! We’re stoked to share our new sonic branding, with amazing sound design by the one and only @dirtypoolpinball 🔺 Jeff knocked it out the park, digging deep into our 1990’s era inspiration, full of FM synthesis, digital grain and crunchy bit rates! This is just the first of many collaborations with Dirty Pool Pinball, we’ve cooked up some new visuals for the great pyramid in return, stay tuned for more on that!
