You can visualize it, meditate on it, make the vision board and connect with your Future Self. I believe in all of that.
But eventually, you have to make choices that match the life you keep saying you want.

And very often, those choices are going to feel slightly premature. You won’t feel completely ready. You won’t have all the evidence. You might even wonder who you think you are making them.

That’s kind of the point.

Because if you only make the choices that feel comfortable to who you are now, you’re going to keep creating from who you are now.

Often, the “quantum leap” is simply a series of choices made from who you’re becoming instead of who you’ve been. Not nearly as sexy as waiting for the universe to drop your new life on your doorstep, but a lot more effective.

Ready to make choices from what you want, not what you fear? Follow along. I teach the deeper work of changing your identity, subconscious patterns and the choices that shape your life. by @jamieagraber

Ibiza, you were medicine. So much so that I finally changed my handle to my name @jamieagraber . Spend time in magical places with magical beings and everything becomes clear. We are here to be so much more than the scared version of ourselves believes. So do the thing. Allow yourself to be seen. And never shrink for the people who don’t like you...You’ll be seeing me. And there’s a lot more coming. Stay close. taken in Ibiza, Spain by @jamieagraber

Five years ago today, Porter and I officially started sharing a body. It was a day that changed everything, and probably the best decision I’ve ever made.

Lately, with so much conversation around IVF, I’ve been thinking about that moment, about how deeply grateful I am for the science, the doctors, the entire process that allowed Porter to be here, and how happy I am that this path to parenthood is becoming more accessible to so many. And then, I came across something that felt like a sucker punch to my chest.

Someone I follow, someone whose perspective I really value, shared her thoughts on IVF. She’s against it. To her, the process of creating embryos, some of which don’t survive or are frozen indefinitely, is something she can’t support. And beyond that, she believes that not everyone is meant to be a parent, if it doesn’t happen “naturally”, then it wasn’t meant to be.

Reading that, I felt a wave of emotions. I was taken aback, then hurt, then honestly, devastated for a moment. Because I feel the exact opposite. Porter is the greatest gift, and he, and all the other children who needed help to be here, deserve to be here just as much as anyone.

But here’s what I didn’t do, I didn’t unfollow her. I didn’t decide she was a terrible person. I didn’t feel the need to fight her. I just recognized that we have different beliefs on something that is deeply personal to me. And that’s okay.

We live in a time where disagreement feels like a line in the sand, where different opinions turn people into opponents. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We can hold our truths close and still respect that others hold theirs just as tightly. We can feel hurt by an idea without needing to destroy the person who holds it.

Porter is here. And for that, I will always be grateful. More people will be able to have the children they dream of and I’m happy for that as well. And I also know that being able to hold space for nuance and differing points of view, even when it’s hurts, is a gift too. by @jamieagraber

So grateful that we get to walk to school and really take in all the incredible things about the city. There is literally something interesting to see and talk about in every direction we look.

Bumping into friends who have become family on our walk to school. @hellosamo

Getting to teach a room full of mamas on how important nervous system regulation is. I love that @oramethod offers moments like this and that I get to lead them.

Even when he’s in a mood, there is nothing I am more grateful for than getting to spend time with him.

The most delicious treats ever. If you haven’t tried them, you must.

Walked through Central Park on my way to an event after drop-off. Another reason I love NYC so much. Getting to experience the beauty of the park just as part of my walk, rather than having to make it a destination.

I am still very much a beginner, which is amazing and annoying all at the same time. I am competitive, so it is incredibly humbling. @jackiec589 , one day @aubriefine and I will beat you. Maybe not soon, but one day.

Date night with friends. One of the greatest blessings of being a Mama is all the incredible families we’ve met along the way. I don’t think people talk about that enough.

All that walking calls for nightly legs up the wall.

Post-Natural History Museum subway ride. So grateful that I get to work as hard as I do and still have the flexibility to have a playdate at the museum after school pickup.

With all my steps, my knee has been hurting me. But weekly sessions at @oramethod have me feeling so much better. And beyond the physical benefits, I have had some of the most incredible moments of clarity during my treatments. I really do have some of my greatest breakthroughs there.

I didn’t realize how much I needed this until I started using it. Such a life upgrade. @christina.nicoles gifted it to me, and I am so grateful. Fifteen minutes a day while watching Bravo and doing a @melissawoodtepperberg arms workout.

Another gift of living in the city is all the beautiful flower stands. I used to just quickly walk by and think, “Oh, how pretty.” Now I actually stop and take a moment to really appreciate their beauty.

Choosing yourself doesn’t always mean you’re in alignment. Sometimes it’s ego. Sometimes keeping the peace is actually abandoning yourself. This Full Moon is asking us to look at both.

Every year I post this quote, and every year it hits a little differently. While we are met with a day of equal light and equal dark, I think the more important lesson is seeing the beauty in letting things go. I've had to let a lot of things go in my life, and I don’t always want to. I’m not always ready. And most importantly, I’m always in the middle of the story when I do. So I don’t know what gets to replace the thing I’m letting go of.And that’s where my faith has always been my biggest friend. It reminds me that I have to make space for something greater, even if I don’t know what it is just yet.

So just like the leaves fall so that a new cycle can begin, what can you let go of? by @jamieagraber

One thing that has become abundantly clear to me is that the most important part of me is the one that shows up for him. And I think over the past few years, I might have missed out on a lot of moments.

Last weekend at Rosh Hashanah services @kabbalahcentre , @monicarberg74 spoke about how much of life happens in the ordinary Tuesday, and while I've always known this, it hit me so differently. Because if I'm being honest with myself,I haven’t always prioritized the pick ups, even though they are some of the most sacred moments. I work for myself. I have freedom in my schedule. And I haven’t really taken advantage of that freedom in the way I could have. And I'm not going to beat myself up about it, even though I'm tempted to. But, what I am going to do is make different choices.

So, while I haven't figured out how to reverse time and redo the past, what I can do is choose to slow myself down. To be more present. To realize it's a privilege to pick him up from school, not something on my to-do list. To take in every moment I can and be so present that the versions of us that exist right now get imprinted in both of our souls.

And I'm gonna give myself some grace, because this is the first time I'm a Momma and there truly is no manual. by @jamieagraber

Whatever it is we’re trying to manifest is almost never only about that one thing. It’s about the version of us who does or has the thing.

Because having it and doing it would change more than one circumstance. It would change how we think, what we believe is possible, the choices we make, what we tolerate, how we move through the world.

And when we start becoming that version of ourselves, and those changes rarely stay contained to one part of our lives.

So when you start thinking about what you want to call in, starting spending time with all different parts of that version of you. Notice how they move, think, act in every area of your life. by @jamieagraber

You can know exactly why you do what you do and still keep doing it.

You can understand the pattern. You can know where it came from. You can journal about it, talk about it, meditate on it, and still find yourself making the same choice when the moment actually comes.

That doesn’t mean the inner work isn’t working. It means understanding is only one part of change. At some point, the belief underneath the pattern has to shift. Your body has to become more familiar with a different way of being.

And then, when life gives you the opportunity to choose differently, you have to actually choose differently.

Usually before you feel fully ready. And then you do it again.

And eventually the new way of thinking, feeling, trusting, and choosing stops feeling like something you’re practicing and starts feeling like who you are. taken in The Beach by @jamieagraber

I fully believe that tuning into the energy of the Moon, Sun, Planets can change your life. They can bring awareness to things you might otherwise miss.

Buttt they can't do it without your participation. You have agency over your life.

The cosmos can illuminate something. They can’t choose for you.

So what you do with the information that comes up is up to you. What you listen to is up to you. What you tolerate is up to you. What you believe is possible is up to you. And what you choose to do is up to you.

And isn't that the most exciting news ever?

You don’t have to believe your future self is somewhere out there magically pulling you toward a different life.

But you do need to understand how much of your current life is being created by an identity you built in the past.

We make thousands of choices from who we believe we are. What we say yes to. What we avoid. What we tolerate. How much we trust ourselves. How visible we’re willing to be. What we do when something feels uncertain or uncomfortable.

And this is why you can know exactly what you want, do all the “work,” and still find yourself repeating the same patterns.

Because insight doesn’t automatically change identity.

Future self work is one way we begin to change it.

When you repeatedly connect with the version of you who already trusts themselves, has different standards, responds differently, and makes different choices, you start giving your subconscious a new reference point for who you are.

Then the work becomes living from that identity now, in the small choices no one else sees.

That’s where your life starts to change.

Not because you imagined it hard enough.

Because your past is no longer the only evidence you’re using to decide who you get to be next.

Favorite me if you’re ready to understand yourself more deeply and actually become the person you keep imagining. I’ve been teaching this work for over a decade, and I’m much more interested in transformation than positive thinking. by @jamieagraber
