Finally sharing our physical chunk model from Studio 6, showing the project’s acoustic logic in section. Canted floors, funnel-shaped voids, room geometry, and material cladding shape how sound is reflected, absorbed, and carried through the building. The section organizes these tuned volumes into a continuous vertical circulation sequence, where winding stairways connect spaces that modulate sound differently according to program.

Work from a landscape architecture seminar with Rosetta Elkin.

A sectional timeline diagramming moss as a resilient agent across time. The drawing traces plant morphology, ecological succession, growth, and adaptation through glacial retreat, sediment formation, ruderal ecologies, and urban surfaces, examining the continuity of moss life in relation to broader landscape transformation. Moss becomes a framework for understanding landscape as an active substrate shaped by cycles of disturbance and regeneration. taken in Pratt Institute School of Architecture by @jamielatimer_

The facade, a perforated metal scrim, acts as an acoustic buffer between street noise and interior listening spaces. Its density varies by program - more open at public gathering areas and denser around rehearsal and listening rooms - while also reducing solar gain and glare. by @jamielatimer_

The project makes the experience of music a public activity. Organized as meso-scale civic infrastructure for music production, it is designed around the physical behavior of sound.

Atop the landmarked Bronx General Post Office, the addition expands into a public music center that places listening, rehearsal, performance, archive, and gathering alongside shared circulation and civic access routes.

The project builds on the South Bronx’s musical legacy, where new genres emerged through the overlap of immigrant communities and shared cultural exchange. By linking existing music organizations with new civic and cultural programs, the building strengthens the local music district and creates space for future production and collaboration.

Work from last year’s S4 Integrated Studio

The project recruits aesthetics & fantasy to highlight essential parts of urban life we are conditioned to ignore & avoid - places of waste & pleasure as creatively generative infrastructures for public life.

The intervention couples waste processing and a nightclub - programs that both share histories of nimbysim, are culturally stigmatized although widely used, and have become relegated to the industrial outskirts of society - on a vacant waterfront site, in efforts to reclaim the narrative of these spaces and site as a central public node in the neighbourhood, integrating into the area’s multitude of flow networks, and bringing new energy and momentum through the exchange and choreography of unfamiliar characters.
