There's nothing quite like mom's cooking. Here, Made In customers and chefs Rachel Wiener of Ojai Valley Inn and Jamilka Borges of Lilith Restaurant reminisce on the dishes that comforted them most as they grew up. For chef Wiener, it was her mother and granmother's mung dal. For chef Borges, it was always her mom's sopa de plátano with arañitas.

What's the one dish that always reminds you of your mom? by @jamilkabm

💛 Honoring the chefs who helped start it all 💛

F.E.A.S.T. started in 2017 with a group of visionary chefs who believed in the power of food to bring people together and strengthen community.

We’re honored to welcome back these founding voices:

✨ Ouita Michel — Holly Hill & Co., Midway, KY
A leader in Kentucky’s farm-to-table movement, Ouita has long championed local farmers, seasonal cooking, and the connection between food and community. Her vision continues to shape what F.E.A.S.T. is today.

✨ Jamilka Borges — Lilith, Pittsburgh, PA
A 2026 James Beard Award Semifinalist for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, Jamilka brings bold, expressive cooking rooted in identity and storytelling.

✨ Joy Crump — FOODE + Mercantile, Fredericksburg, VA
A longtime supporter of F.E.A.S.T., Joy’s work at FOODE reflects a deep commitment to local sourcing, sustainability, and community-centered dining.

✨ Amy Brandwein — Centrolina & Piccolina, Washington DC
Amy’s restaurant Centrolina was named a 2026 James Beard Foundation Semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurant, reflecting her dedication to seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine.

✨ Abra Berens — Granor Farm, Three Oaks, MI
While Abra won’t be joining us in person this year, her connection to F.E.A.S.T. continues. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on a special silent auction experience: a chance to cook alongside Abra and Ouita Michel this June.

💛 Nearly a decade later, their impact continues to shape this event and the community it supports.

Women-run, flavor-packed, and a must-visit in PGH✨

Went to Lilith PGH for a girls’ dinner and, as usual, everything I tried was fantastic-I’ve yet to show up and have anything less than a great experience. This women-owned, women-run spot nails it every single time. Becca’s hand may have been a paid actress in these photos (clearly overqualified😏), and yes, I ate not only my filet of beef but also Cait’s and Lisa’s-because I am who I am😂. And bonus points for giving me five lemons for my water-we all know water with lemon is my forever favorite mocktail. All jokes aside, if you haven’t been here yet, you absolutely need to. Incredible flavors, amazing vibes, and an all-around perfect experience.

Chef Jamilka Borges (@jamilkabm) spent nearly 20 years building her culinary voice in Pittsburgh. Cooking began as a form of grief—an escape from family, tradition, and loss. But over time, it became a way to connect with her new city, one shaped by deindustrialization, perseverance, and pride. At Lilith (@lilithpgh), her latest chapter, she’s found strength in community, resilience in failure, and purpose in mentoring others. “The perseverance in the Rust Belt is inspiring, and I’m rooting for every single one of us.” Read more via the link in our bio. taken in Pittsburgh, PA by @jamilkabm

"Watermelon is always an ingredient that I wanted to like, but for some reason I haven’t. While testing recipes, I decided to grill watermelon and it was a total game changer for me,” says Chef Lizzie Sestito (@lil_lizzies_kitchen). At Pittsburgh's Lilith (@lilithpgh), Sestito and Chef Jamilka Borges (@jamilkabm) channel her watermelon (@watermelonboard) epiphany into a shrimp ceviche with smoky grilled watermelon nestled between poached shrimp and creamy avocado. Everything is bathed in a watermelon leche de tigre—coconut milk, soursop purée, and green curry paste—and finished with pea shoots and edible flowers. It's a bright, tropical twist on a start-of-summer ceviche.

Get the full recipe via the link in our bio and make sure to visit Lilith during our Discover Watermelon Week (now through July 2). Order up the watermelon ceviche, share it on Instagram, and tag us for your chance to win a $100 gift card towards your next meal at Lilith. taken in Lilith Pittsburgh by @jamilkabm
