What is an eco influencer? It’s something I get asked quite often, so I wanted to share what it means to me.

I’ve been eco blogging and testing products for over 15 years, but at the heart of it is something quite simple: encouraging people to think about what we consume, how we consume it and why.

For me, being a conscious content creator means sharing things I care about and having conversations with people who care about them too.

Social media can make us feel that the numbers are everything. But can you imagine 20,000 people in front of you? I’d much rather build a smaller community where we share values, talk to each other and learn from each other.

My focus is grassroots environmentalism. Celebrating the small wins and helping people consider changes they can make in their own lives.

That little bit of mindfulness before we buy something can be powerful. Do I need it? Why do I want it? Is there another way?

I do want governments to do more, and big corporations to take responsibility for their environmental impact. Alongside that, I believe the choices we make ourselves matter, especially when more of us start thinking this way.

That’s what I want to encourage through JamJarGill.com. Conscious consumerism, curiosity and making the changes we can.

If that sounds like your kind of conversation, I’d love you to follow along and join in.

You’ve probably heard of the three R’s of environmentalism: reduce, reuse and recycle. But what I’ve realised is how important the order is, and that little word “then”.

Reduce, THEN reuse, THEN recycle.

For years, I thought putting something in the recycling bin meant I’d done my bit. But before we get there, we can consider all three whenever we want or need something.

Can I reduce what I’m buying? Could I use something I already have? Can it be reused in another way before it needs to be recycled?

That pause is conscious consumerism. A little bit of mindfulness can be really powerful, taking us away from “I want, I buy” and the idea that more is always better.

If we can slow the whole thing down and consider what we can reduce first, then reuse what we already have before needing to recycle, I think that could make a real difference.

I save wrapping paper and gift bags, turn old T-shirts into cleaning cloths, and last Christmas tried wrapping a few presents in pretty tea towels from charity shops. Sometimes it’s just looking at what we have a little differently.

And when we throw something “away”, where is away? It’s out of our sight, but it hasn’t disappeared. Someone still has to deal with it.

I know we all have tight budgets, busy lives and plenty of responsibilities. This is never about judgement. It’s about thinking things through and celebrating the small wins.

If this message resonates with you and you’d like to celebrate it, take a look at my shop. You’ll find reusable organic cotton bags and a laptop sticker to help share it with a wider audience. Link in my bio.

Want to make more environmentally conscious choices, but not sure where to start?

That’s why I created the Eco Edit. It’s a chance to pick my brains and use what I’ve learnt from 15+ years of eco blogging and product testing to help you make changes in your own life or small business.

You choose one, two or three areas you’d like to tackle. We have a call to talk them through, and you come away with personalised recommendations and links to explore, plus any relevant discount codes I can share.

We’ll look at what you buy, the alternatives available and what would work for you. You can book once or come back throughout the year as you’re ready to look at another area.

I love the thought that something we discuss might get passed on to a friend, colleague or family member. That’s the ripple effect I’m hoping to create.

You’ll find the three Eco Edit packages and booking form through the link in my bio.

Are you an eco-conscious business looking to reach a wider audience and share your story?

I've been blogging at JamJarGill.com since 2010, building a community interested in environmentalism, holistic health, conscious consumerism and connecting with nature.

Through my Eco Guest Post packages, I'm offering like-minded businesses the opportunity to share their knowledge, stories and expertise with my audience.

Whether you've already written your article, need a little guidance or would prefer me to write it for you, there's an option to suit.

You can also book individual posts or save with a package of 5 or 10, and I'll plant a tree through More Trees for every article published.

Find out more, explore the packages and book directly through the link in my bio.

Caring about the environment has always been a big part of my life, and I want that to come through in how I run my business too.

I plant one UK tree each month for my business through MoreTrees, plus another tree for every client project or month of ongoing work.

I know not all tree planting is the same. So I took time to research MoreTrees before choosing them. They check who they work with, which species are planted and how projects are monitored afterwards. The care arrangements vary between projects, but what happens after planting was an important part of my research.

For me, this isn’t about cancelling out my carbon footprint. It’s another thing I can do alongside making choices to reduce my environmental impact.

And from October 2026, I’m buying a Planet Wild membership for clients who work with me on recurring monthly packages, helping fund rewilding projects around the world.

I started supporting them personally in August. I love seeing the projects they’re working on, and I wanted to share that with my clients too.

You can read more about both through the link in my bio.

Are there any environmental projects you support? I’d love to hear about them.

So proud of the wild garden we've created and how many pollinators we've given homes to through growing like this. This is the way forward people, regardless of what space you have, big or small give some to nature. Be a guardian, not a gardener (heard this last week and just loved it) 🙏🏼❣️🌱🌻🐝 🦋 #guardiannotgardener #livewild #rewilding #alive #polinatorgarden by @jamjargill
