Curtains for the Stockholm City Hall by the textile artist Maja Sjöström made in 1922. The original ones were woven in Venice at @tessiturebevilacqua. I had the pleasure of visiting the weaving workshops a couple of years ago and see the antique looms in action. Bevilacqua still produce several of Maja’s unique designs. The current curtains were remade in the 80’s without the original blue colour scheme at a different silk mill. by @janapedan

The next Creative Studies Open Talk features art historian and fashion curator at MoMu Antwerp, Elisa de Wyngaert, alongside artist, exhibition architect, and set designer Janina Pedan, whose practice extends into spatial thinking and materiality.

With backgrounds in fine art and art history, as well as fashion and motherhood, both will present shared insights into the making of the GIRLS, their most recent collaborative exhibition where girlhood is presented in its beauty and complexity as an interdisciplinary way of seeing rather than a theme.

As the show is set to reopen in Paris, both will open up their creative dialogue unfolding, bridging visual research, narrative, and space into exhibition as an embodied story.

The event will be moderated by Sonya Kvasha — a lecturer at the Locus School of Creative Studies, creative director, producer, and founder of Baby Prod, a studio working at the intersection of culture, art, and fashion. She began her career at Vogue Ukraine, where she was responsible for the magazine’s creative direction. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Curation and Cultural Enterprise at Central Saint Martins in London.

327 years apart. The new hexafoil that I’m carving on a ceiling truss, and the little wonky daisywheel that appeared from under thick layers of gloss-paint in the oldest part of the house by the fireplace. The removal of the paint revealed the date 1699, some faint Marian marks and concentric circles, all so called ”witch marks” to protect the house.

@folkmagicman has done an extensive survey of these kind of carvings in England. It was in his book that I found a reference to the 1594 engraving titled ”Trierer Hexentanzplatz” depicting the mayhem that might descend through the chimney if the marks are crossed out. Guess good I managed to get this carving done in time for Walpurgis weekend.
