Pavuk, 2024, @janapedan

The Pavuk (Spider) is an ancient Ukrainian plant custom for the winter cycle. Just like the symbol of the World Tree, the Pavuk connects the past, present and future. The different sized rhombus shapes represent generations of the family. The Pavuk is a symbol of the universe, that according to folk belief is able to catch forces of evil in its straw net, protect the home and absorb all negativity that interferes with the happy life of the home-dwellers. Burnt before Christmas, it symbolizes transience and full dissociation of evil.
