The Women

This is the best book I have read this year. I chose to do the audiobook, and it was incredible. The narration was perfect. I couldn't stop listening. I flew through this book in less than two days. I found myself so engrossed in the story. I would shut my light off and try to sleep only to turn my light back on and put in my earbuds because I needed to know what would happen next.
This book truly touched my soul. I cared deeply about the characters. They were well developed. I felt Frankie's (MC) hopes, dreams, fears, and pain.
This book brings all the feels. Keep kleenex on hand.

This book earns all the stars. This was my first Kristin Hannah. Her writing is not overhyped. She drew me into a well developed world, and I can not praise this book enough. I highly recommend it.

I challenged myself to cold water swimming every day in November as a tribute to my mother that I lost at the end of August. Thank you to my amazing friends @whwolfpack for all the encouragement and showing up to dip with me all month. I know my mom is looking down smiling. Daisies were my mother's favorite and her birth month flower. They symbolize rebirth and motherhood. by @janeb_reads

Book Review 📖

The Last Housewife
by Ashley Winstead

This book was wild! It would make a fantastic movie. This book was dark and twisty. I knew it dealt with a cult, but oh my! 🙈I was glued to the book. It was a crazy ride. I went back and forth with being curious, shocked, and at times horrified. It brought you inside and gave you a look at being influenced and finding yourself in a cult. It almost read like a dark romance at times. Except the spice wasn't overly descriptive. I loved the podcast element.
Our MC Shay is being interviewed by a popular podcasterr who was her childhood friend.

This book is definitely not for the faint of heart. It follows Shay as she returns to her college town upon learning of the death of her former roommate, Laurel. Her roommate died in almost the exact same manor as their other roommate did ten years earlier. You have a story going on in the current time, and you are hearing from Shay about what happened in the past.

This is a world brimming with secrets and patriarchy. And secret societies.

I am giving 5 stars because it kept me glued to the pages and guessing until the end. This one is perfect for fans of thrillers and cults and isn't scared by dark romance type themes.
Definitely check for TWs if you have any potential triggers. I think it's best going in blind to this one. I am happy to give TWs if needed.

Book Review 📖

The Night Swim
by Meghan Goldin

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This book was fantastic. It is a fast paced thriller. Told in multi POVs, that of Rachel Krall, our FMC, who is a true crime Podcaster(in town to cover a rape trial for her podcast)and Hannah ( a mysterious woman who keeps leaving Rachel notes and seeking her help in finding the truth of what happened to her sister 25 years ago). Then there are chapters that are Rachel's podcast. I loved the podcast chapters.

The book is fast-paced, and there are a lot of secrets in this small town. I loved the writing style, short chapters, and the suspense. I also enjoyed trying to figure out connections between the current trial and the past.

All and all, this was a fantastic book. I loved every minute of reading it. Megan Goldin is now an autobuy author for me. I highly recommend this book.

Do check trigger warnings. I never give them because I like going in blind. However, this deals with a rape trial. I personally did not find the book triggering.

I cannot wait to read recently released Dark Corners by the same author. It also features Rachel Krall. I absolutely love her character and would definitely be a fan of her podcast!

Night Swim deserves more than 5 ⭐️
