Hooray…after two poorly weeks it was such a joy to celebrate my son Jonah getting his Maths Masters in Bath yesterday along with my husband his step father of 20 years, his father and Jonah’s lovely girlfriend! A bloomin’ beautiful day followed by a whole day of sleeping today! So well worth the tiredness, a day to treasure! 😊😊😊 by @janecorbett

Apologies to anyone who was planning to visit during the promised extension of my exhibition but I have had to make the hard decision to close the show. It has been a joy to have my work all around the house and to have such lovely conversations with folk…and to have sold 48 pieces of work. A sweep around the sitting room after a rehang of my exhibition ‘Everything Under My Eye’…all set for opening again this weekend with a fresh look! Having sold over 40 works and some juggling from room to room I decided that it all needed a completely fresh curation. No more work in the kitchen now but there is still work in sitting room, hallway, up the stairs downstairs loo and out in the garden studio! Despite the great sales there are still 100 works available so there is still plenty to see if you are planning on coming..and remember art is personal so what has gone from the show could well have not been your favourite piece…maybe it’s still here to be discovered! 😊….and by the weekend this heatwave should have passed and we should all be cooler and calmer! Turned our house and my garden studio into an exhibition space with huge reductions on many pieces; painting, mixed media sculpture and works on paper including gems from as little as £5! Today’s tour of my big exhibition and half price sale ‘Everything Under My Eye’ is the work in the hallway here at my house in Hungerford, Berkshire. As folk can take any they purchase ‘on the day’ and thanks to lots of sales, I have had a semi rehang/shuffle of works to fill gaps so it all looks fine and dandy again! (Apologies to my husband Pete for constant edits and reprints of list of works 😬 but ‘at home’ exhibition still calls for professional hang and info!) The works shown in this reel of the hallway range from £20 for the 3D hanging votives to the largest canvases (1mx1m) reduced from £4,000 to £2,000. With works in the show starting at £5 it’s proving such a delight to see folk being able to buy work that perhaps they couldn’t justify spending out on before 👏👏👏, and let’s be real…it’s usually fellow artists that love but can’t afford to buy at full price, it happens often to me and so I have always been grateful for affordable work that I can treat myself too! From my exhibition ‘Everything Under My Eye’ in this post I am focusing on some of the Tulip Mania series that are on the walls here at my big sale house exhibition. So much of my work is about collecting and curious collections and so perhaps it’s not surprising that the mania of tulip fever back in c17th Holland was a subject for my work. ‘Broken’ (ie unexpected stripes on petals, since discovered to be caused by a virus) became highly valued and traded with fortunes made and lost in the frenzy for ‘rare’ and ‘different’. In my paintings the tulips are my version of ‘broken’; with not only the break of stripes but the flowers themselves broken and disjointed. Hope you enjoy…! I have extended the exhibition which now runs every Sat-sun 10.30-2.30 right through until the end of July. Over 120 works at half price hung all over the house! Despite a fabulous day here with visitors I have just had a late MRI scan at hospital and I have to be on standby for being called in for treatment over the weekend. Cancer throws curved balls and I can only hope those who were planning to visit over the weekend see this in time to change their plans. Some little tasters as I finish hanging ‘Everything Under My Eye’ exhibition here at home ready for the opening on Thursday…two day countdown! I wanted to do this in April…but it ended up being very short notice May/June…even to me!
