@janecorbett’s paintings feature several recurring themes, including those of collection, protection, enshrinement and encasement. The artist has a lifelong fascination for collecting treasures both tangible and imagined. She gathers these various findings into intriguing collections of objects, where visual connections override more traditional themes of how and why objects are displayed together.

Explore more of Corbett’s work online and in the gallery today. Our latest exhibition, HOPE IS THE THING WITH FEATHERS, runs until 31 December.

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge attend the annual National Service of Remembrance

———
Members of The Royal Family gathered at the Cenotaph in Whitehall for the annual National Service of Remembrance. The Duchess of Cambridge watched the service from the Foreign Office balcony alongside The Duchess of Cornwall and The Countess of Wessex.

Held each year on Remembrance Sunday, the national service honours members of the Armed Forces who have lost their lives in conflict. The ceremony includes the Two Minute Silence, the laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph and tributes led by members of The Royal Family and representatives of the Armed Forces.

The ceremony was attended by The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, The (then) Duke of York, The Earl & Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal & Sir Timothy Laurence, The Duke & Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, and Prince & Princess Michael of Kent.
