New in the shop!

My 2 Cents is an open edition miniature artist book. Bound using a double needle coptic stitch, the pages contain random snippets of my musings, thoughts, poems, and the occasional rant. All pages, drilled holes, and stitching were handcrafted with joy and precision.

These were so popular at markets, I’m happy to now offer a limited quantity in the shop! Link in bio.

I’m thrilled and appreciative to have my “The Only Constant is Change” artist book be featured so beautifully in the latest issue, no. 64, of @uppercasemag! I’m alongside several other fab artists in a fascinating article titled “The Art of Flow” by @kerrie.more. I enjoyed reading about each artist’s perspective and process. I’m smitten with that title typography too.

As always, every issue is packed with inspiring craft and engaging topics. Considering the tariff situation we find ourselves in with our dear Canadian neighbors I can’t recommend enough that you get yourself a subscription and a few books too. I’m grateful for the respite the magazine, books, and circle community offers especially these days. Just flipping through it will lift your mood! Thanks Janine!

Workshop registration open now!

Intro to Artists' Books for Photographers with Janet Guertin @janetguertin

Click! Photography Festival @clickphotofest
October 4, 2026
Durham Convention Center
Durham NC

Because of the hands-on nature of this class, enrollment is limited to 10 people.

Artists' books are a genre of bookbinding and book arts that can't always be distinctly defined but offer an opportunity to think more broadly about concept and craft through the book form. They are often more art object than book and can involve multiple mediums and techniques including photography.

In this workshop we'll look at a variety of structures that lend themselves to presenting photographs in fresh and non-traditional ways, and talk about how materials and photos combined with form and folds can enhance any
photography project. We'll also make a Panorama Book, incorporating your own photos into an elegant display.

No previous experience required, but participants should be comfortable with cutting, folding, and gluing.

Registration open now!

More #workinprogress views from a new artist book that will be part of an upcoming exhibit with @trianglebookarts

Lots of moving parts, folds, thought, and engineering went into making this one!

What a great class we had last Saturday for The Creative Coptic @my.muses.card.shop! We glued, we folded, we punched holes, and most of all we stitched! I was so impressed with the determination through some tricky steps and how everyone incorporated their found paper alongside the provided signatures. Each book was so full of color and texture. Teaching in a gallery surrounded by the most vibrant quilts was pure joy!

Two types of marbling for this #marbledmonday!

I did not go looking for this, but when you go to HomeGoods for a couple of simple bowls but also happen upon a *heavy* book-shaped bookend that is either marble or granite; as a binder how does one pass that up?? I cannot advise.

The Creative Coptic Bookbinding Workshop with Janet Guertin

August 29th, 2026

In this class you’ll create a coptic journal with a creative interior that you’ll be excited to use later on. We’ll prepare the cover boards, folded signatures of a variety of pages, foldouts and pockets, and learn the 1-needle coptic stitch–a binding method that allows the book to lay flat and highlights the exposed stitching. Come enjoy the joy of crafting your own creative coptic journal from scratch!

Come with me literally behind the scenes of an artist book. This view won’t be visible quite like this when the book is finished, so it’s nice to enjoy it in this moment. So much of creating an artist book is about the journey. The final result is important of course, but taking stock of certain steps along the way I think are also valuable–sometimes informing a change and sometimes invoking new ideas and inspiration for another book or artwork.
