Still in awe and praising my Savior for blessing me with such a special animal. It took six days, 55 miles, and a lot of praying. God provided the opportunity and it all came together. I couldn’t have asked for a better week in the mountains with @andrewgilesphoto and @joshstubbsofficial . I’ll have more details of the hunt later in the week but for now we’re still breaking down elk and soaking it all in. God is good. taken in Wyoming, USA by @jaradstubbs

God I’m still counting my blessings… One month without you and it feels like an eternity. Every day is awash with memories and reminders of you. I keep thinking you’ll come around the corner smiling with some smart comment or a question. Your smile is one of the things I miss the most. It lit up the room and made everyone’s day just a little brighter. I feel blessed to have had the honor of being your father for the last 16 years. As much as it hurts now, I’m grateful that I got to spend life with you and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The grief that I am experiencing is a small price to pay for the many special memories I have with you. Grief is a true reflection how much a person was/is loved. And boy were you loved. As I sit here navigating a world without one of my best friends, I’m reminded of the good things that God has done for us. The small moments of joy when I hear stories of Reid, and the blessing that he was to others, gives me hope for the future. The stories that let me know that others got to see how special you were and they are blessed with moments of your joy. God isn’t done and neither is Reid’s story. I take comfort in knowing that Reid is with Jesus and I will see him again one day. I pray that others can find the same peace in Jesus. In honor of Reid I ask that you love a little more, hug a little harder, and smile a little brighter. You never know who needs a Reid moment in their life.

And I know that seasons
Never last forever
So, God I will remember
All of the reasons
My heart has to be grateful
All the times you have been faithful to me by @jaradstubbs

His will, not ours.

“One of the things I thought a lot about prior to the hunt was wanting what God wanted for me. I think that goes into life as well. That was something I prayed a lot about before this hunt and when I was on this hunt.” - @jaradstubbs

I certainly didn’t go into this hunt last year thinking I’d get a chance at a bull of this caliber. In fact, I prayed a lot about accepting what God wanted for me and being content with that. Boy did He provide beyond expectation.

I’m not sure I can even describe the emotions behind the smile on my face. Honestly, there was a lot just racing through my mind. One of the biggest was the recognition that God had His hand in this hunt the whole way.

We got caught out in the middle of the side of the mountain with only sage brush for cover and this herd just happened to walk our way. Nothing but a God thing. This hunt is a reminder that He is always Faithful. No matter the trial, He is there to walk alongside you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

He’s Always Faithful.

Not everything always goes as planned. A story of testing patience, and trusting in God’s plan yielded a big result for @jaradstubbs. This story is a true testament that God’s plan in always bigger and better than our own.

I’ve been fortunate to have had a front-row seat to one of the greatest stories of trust, determination, and patience. Nothing can describe this as anything other than God rewarding our efforts in the most incredible way.

Kansas. I put this bird off for a while because I didn’t want my season to end. My daughter tagged out Friday night so I decided to go out the next morning for myself.

I got in early and the gobblers were hammering on the roost as an orange sunrise lit up the trees. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setup.

When they finally flew down the gobblers were chasing each other around and I didn’t have a clear shot. Some deer caught my scent and ran through the flock sending them all in the wrong direction. After about 30 minutes this old Tom decided to come back to see where the lonely hen was and that was his last mistake.

He was a true warrior — broken toe, long gray spurs, and ragged tail feathers that told the story of a long, hard life.

A great way to close my season. taken in Kansas by @jaradstubbs

First turkey hunt was a big success. I truly felt Reid's presence when I got my turkey and it was such a surreal moment for me. While I wish he could've physically been there with me to say "Let's Gooo" when I got the kill, I know he was there in spirit cheering me on. Most importantly, I'm thankful for this special memory with my dad. As well as Colter being able to see his mama get her first turkey.
