There’s really no way to understand a place like Alaska until you’re in it.

Endless country. Brutal terrain. Long days. Sore, cold, tired. Mental highs and lows. And trying to close the distance with a bow in country where you can see forever and hide almost nowhere. It pushed me physically and mentally in a way very few hunts ever have.

But that’s also what made it so special. Add in a great group of buddies to share the highs, lows, laughs and long days with, and it became an experience I’ll always remember.

There’s much more content and story beyond these photos, but that part will have to wait until early November.

He’s Always Faithful.

Not everything always goes as planned. A story of testing patience, and trusting in God’s plan yielded a big result for @jaradstubbs. This story is a true testament that God’s plan in always bigger and better than our own.

Some of the most remote country I’ve ever had the privilege to hunt. Long days, hard miles, good memories, and a great bull to cap it off.

Still surreal to turn this dream hunt into a reality. Couldn’t have asked for a better crew to share camp with.

Gotta love the North.

The male Sable might be one of my favorite animals I’ve seen out here in South Africa. Their joker like markings on their face are unmistakable. They start their life a light brown color and as they age their capes turn to a jet black color. Their horns are curved backwards and impressively long.
Their horns aren’t just for show, males can use them in powerful contests with rivals and they can provide formidable defense.
Fun fact- The females also grow horns, but they are usually slimmer and a bit smaller. Also the females don’t change color as dramatic as the males do, they become darker- but the mature males are known for their deep black color.
