Made it another trip around the sun and I decided to celebrate by purchasing a truck that’s older than me and doesn’t run (and I’m friggin’ pumped about it!!!). 😅

The first time I ever sat behind a steering wheel was in one of these old @ford trucks (I was about 6 years old, on Papa’s lap), the plush red interior, the cigarette windows. Some of my earliest memories of listening to country music (Randy Travis and Merle Haggard, mainly) happened in the cab of one of these trucks while more than likely heading down highway H to a spot called Laney’s on a Saturday morning in my favorite little middle of nowhere town that the locals refer to as “Pin Hook”.

It’s kinda silly- this thing is like some weird Two Tone Time Machine that takes me straight back to moments in time I hope I never forget to revisit.

I have a feelin’ that the Two Tone Time Machine will teach me a thing or two about this season and chapter of life that is in front of me right now, too.

I want y’all to meet my new friend, Tim Cross.

To give a little bit of backstory, @aaronlewismusic and the Stateliners played Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary on 7.25.26 in Petros TN.

During the tour of the old prison grounds I came across some artwork in the dining hall that was done by an inmate at the request of Warden M.C. Hamby. These were painted murals of animals, nature, and Victorian style hand paintings. It was something beautiful in a place of what seemed to house despair and death. Brushy Mountain was Tennessee’s most maximum security prison for many years.

I found out Tim had a book that he had written about his story, and time at Brushy, and so I picked up a copy that day. I had also heard that he was at our show that night.

On a complete whim, I decided to try and reach out to Tim because his story stood out to me.

After looking for a way to get in contact, I randomly sent Tim a message and didn’t know if he would even see it, but he got back to me almost instantly. I told him who I was, how I came to discover who he was, and that his story really inspired me.

I told him I’d love to shake his hand, and meet him sometime, and I had also mentioned that Nashville is home, so it wouldn’t be any burden to drive over to Petros, TN for the day if he was back around anytime soon.

Tim got back with me and said that he lives in California now. I said “I’ll be there next week!”

On Sunday 8.9.26 I met Tim for the first time, we sat around a table and talked about his time there, about spirituality, God, redemption, some of the things he saw, some of the things he experienced, and we talked about music and his artwork as well. We even ended up getting a song out of the whole deal together.

When I stepped off the tour bus on 7.25.26 in Petros, TN, I had no idea what God would do with the rest of it.
Sunday was a great day, and I’m thankful for God moments like this one right here.

If you wanna check out the book, DM me and I’ll get ya the link. taken in Coachella, California by @jaredharder

Shipshewana, Indiana will always be near and dear to my heart.

Another sold-out @aaronlewismusic and The Stateliners show and a great night with the kind folks at @bluegateofficial. Got to hang out and catch up with my uncle Bruce, and see some family friends today as well. The kind of moments that make the road “home”.

Fun afternoon shooting some @aaronlewismusic content with the fine folks over at @countryrebel.

Brought out my Gibson J-50 for this one. I got this guitar from my grandpa the day I moved to Nashville (almost 10 years ago), it’s been all over the 🇺🇸 with me, and it was made all the way up in Kalamazoo, MI back in 1963. Fast forward a year or so after that and the ‘65 Ford Mustang in the following slides would’ve been brought to life over in Dearborn, MI.
