Another elevation nights down! Been sitting stage left with this guy for a lot of years now. (At least 8, but probably more). We’ve pushed our fair share of cases, built stage decks, commiserated over catering, played catch in the garage (one time), and shared probably weeks worth of timecode between our rigs. Grateful for consistency and thankful for the fun along the way! by @jaredolsn

the past two weeks will stick with me for a long time. so thankful for a team committed to creating an environment so that the next generation can encounter God in a fresh and inviting way. there were moments of tension, but equal or even more moments of grace. God met students where they were but also met me. there were a few moments where I couldn’t help but think that this current group of high schoolers will be creating moments for my boys to have a moment like this when they’re old enough to go to camp. when I got home Hughes so happily put my lanyard around his neck and asked when he gets to go to “junior camp” as he called it and that messed me up.

so many people to thank, but these three led the charge and have to be shouted out for entrusting me with helping their brainstorms turn into reality. @carlosxhernandz @breannarobaina & @sam.ducker are a dangerous team. can’t wait for what’s next! by @jaredolsn

Happy birthday to my wife! I almost posted a carrousel of a ton of pictures but chose to share this one. It’s a total summary of who she is. Life never seems to just give you one thing at a time to give your attention to. Kaley is a master at seeing the cards dealt to her and reacting, strategizing, then taking action. She keeps our family running but always takes time to evaluate where we’ve been while also keeping us future minded. I would be lost without her. This year has been way different than we expected, but I’m believing for abundance in this next year of life. Show her some love! by @jaredolsn

It’s hard to believe that 11 years ago we got married! One thing I recognize more and more is how blessed I am to spend my days with @kaleyolsn

two years ago i laced up a pair of running shoes after not being consistent in a workout plan for way too long. little did i know that the decision then would find me 2,858.3 miles logged just two years later. If you’ve spent any time around me these past two years it’s likely come up in conversation. whether it be about shoes, your aerobic capacity, easy running, why carbs are actually good (and needed) for you, and the list goes on and on…

I’ve raced some races, achieved a 5:00 mile, maintained my goal weekly mileage, increased my weekly mileage and other frivolous things, but the main thing I’ve gained is a different outlook on life. consistency is everything; not just in running. running is an avenue that i channel in so many other areas of my life and i am so grateful for it.

I write all of this for a few reasons: 1. you can start today; yesterday doesn’t matter. 2. you’re not competing against someone else; you’re simply trying to be better each day. 3. in whatever you’re doing, commit to to it and you might just be surprised at the version of yourself you discover on the other side of staying consistent.

but also, if you’ve ever wanted to go on a run, i promise you it’s worth it. you just might love it too! by @jaredolsn

Between the ages of 14-17 he was my youth minister. Every Friday morning before school we would meet at Starbucks and talk about life. Some days we opened the Bible to study together and other days we just talked. He was a safe space for me as a high school guy where i could ask questions about anything. I use zebra pens because of him, use a moleskin journal because of him, fell in love with ultimate frisbee and Dave Matthews Band because of him, and learned what being steadfast in ministry meant because of his example. Grateful is a massive understatement to the impact he had on my life in such a short time span. Today we got to reconnect and he’ll be coming to elevation nights! What a blessing. by @jaredolsn

What a year it was! We’ve watched Hughes and Emmett’s relationship grow so much and love how much they love each other (even when that sometimes looks like cage matches on the bed). Kaley and I celebrated 10 years of marriage and joined Charlotte Leadership Forum where we’re able to deepen some long lasting friendships and create new ones as we learn more about Jesus, each other, and how we can continue pursuing both for the rest of our lives. I celebrated 12 years on staff serving @elevationchurch and made running a non-negotiable part of my life. I’m so thankful for the year that has been, but I see it as a stepping stone into even more fulfillment in 2026; spiritually, personally, professionally, and physically. I know I certainly have goals, but more than anything will be striving towards obedience and consistency in all areas. Cheers to moving forward this coming year!🥂 by @jaredolsn

a year ago

just over a year ago i laced up for the first time after years of inconsistently working out. the initial driver was shame that @kaleyolsn had 75+ workouts (while pregnant) on the year and my lazy bones had nothing to show for it. that first morning i ran a measly, slow (for me) 2 miles with a SCREAMING heart rate. fast forward to today and I ran a 5:00 mile w/ @coreypruitt at a lower max heart rate than those 2 miles and probably could have gone faster had we been on a track (thanks, rain).

anyways, it’s been awesome looking back over the milestone runs since i first laced up. from running my first 15 mile week (to eventually become 40 miles a week), to running 7.5 miles from work to home, to my first of many half marathon+ distance long runs, and everything in between, running is a journey i don’t take for granted.

I mainly share all of this to encourage the person who wants to start something. trust me, the first step is the most intimidating, but you will be so glad you took that timid, slow step. you’ll be even more grateful when you look back at the progress you’ve made.
