How will you quantify this year?

A question I haven’t quite answered myself yet. A lot has changed, a lot has stayed the same.

What I do know though, is that it was an incredible summer in the mountains with friends and family.

Some home scanned film (dust & hairs included) from the last few months.

Haus Für Mozart, Salzburg Festspiele 2026.

My dad used to love Mozart (and all classical music, really). I have distinct memories of him blasting classical music in the car and me understanding absolutely none of it, wishing he’d put on something “normal”. Fast forward 20 years later, @samannelawson, Rebecca and I are sitting in Mozart’s hometown about to watch a live orchestral performance. It was quite surreal, and something I’m sure he would’ve loved.

Sometimes, there are moments in life I wish I could hold onto forever. Time marches on regardless. These little films are my small attempt to capture and make these moments last.

In the words of @rudi_cronje, “elke dag is ‘n skool dag”.

Lots of learning happening and still to happen for @samannelawson and I. Very grateful to have had a fairly soft landing with old friends and new friends. by @jaredpaisley

The last two weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind.

More than anything this week, I enjoyed the process of making the music. It’s not perfect, particularly complicated, or the best out there, but it feels like it expresses the last few weeks better than the images alone. A delicate mix of sadness & excitement. by @jaredpaisley

Some of my favourite moments I contributed to The Philipstown WireCar Grand Prix doccie with @giantfilmsza.

I remember the day we filmed the second clip in this post so well. @pascaleschoeman and I were sent to film a training sequence with Rivano. We were barely managing on the rocks and glass, but there he was, absolutely cruising, barefoot.

It was a pleasure and an honour shooting B-Unit for @jasonprins_dop & @wardgeous, and also shooting B-Cam alongside them when needed. Two artists I admire so much, it often left me feeling pretty inadequate and questioning if what I was doing was good enough, but they were supportive, gentle, and just the best.

The production team on this also need a HUGE shoutout. Managing so many moving parts in such a small town, getting everyone’s schedules to align, putting out many fires quietly, amongst many other things.

This kind of project felt like the kind you are lucky to get once in your career, if things go well. An incredible story, creating with friends, with creative freedom, being a part of a real human story that makes you feel something. So many people at so many levels of this doccie gave it their all, and its just an honour to have been alongside them at some part of the journey. I remember the evening that the race was screened for the town, and pretty much everyone grabbed a camera to shoot coverage. No-one even second guessed, they all just stepped up.

Anyways, enough rambling, some credits below in the comments, but for a full list see @giantfilmsza’s post.

The doccie is streaming on @primevideo, and if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend watching. by @jaredpaisley
