@jaredsblank said something in this clip that gets to the heart of why @brent_sopel and @iamjuliethahn do @wordblindness

There are people having important conversations about dyslexia, but too often, those conversations stay within the same circle. The people outside that circle need to hear them, too.

That’s why we share these stories. One conversation can reach someone who didn’t know they needed it.

Dyslexia doesn’t just affect how we learn, it can deeply impact self-esteem.

Understanding different learning styles is a big part of coaching. @jaredsblank, Chief of Staff for @texasfootball, shares how meeting players where they are can bring out their best while keeping their self-esteem intact.

MARCH 15 || DAY 4 || HEART CHAKRA
Purpose | Service | Community | Dharma

This day centers on the heart of conscious creation. Building from the inside out is not only about vision or execution. It is about devotion. It is about creating spaces, companies, and communities that genuinely serve human wellbeing. The most impactful leaders are those who refuse to separate ambition from integrity, productivity from wellness, and success from service.

At Present Practice, we believe in karma yoga, the yoga of action. Our inner practice shapes our outer impact. When ambition is guided by self-awareness and service, business becomes a vehicle for healing rather than extraction. This day explores what it means to build environments where people can be both high-performing and well. 🪷

“The best leaders are always demanding, but not demeaning.”

That line from KC really stuck with us from our recent Nova Chat with @jaredsblank and @kckatalyst.

We discussed how athletes and Chiefs of Staff both recognize that effective communication can make or break trust, culture, and performance.

If you missed it, the replay is now live 🎥 novachiefofstaff.com/events

Last week Nova founder Maggie Olson hosted a Nova Chat with two incredibly insightful guests, @jaredsblank, Chief of Staff for the Texas Longhorns Football Program, and @kckatalyst, internationally recognized speaker, author, and mental performance coach.

We explored how the traits that define great athletes — discipline, adaptability, preparation, and trust-building — are the same qualities that make Chiefs of Staff and strategic operators thrive.

Our guests unpacked how lessons from the locker room transfer directly to the boardroom and how you can apply them to elevate your impact as an operator.

💬 “The session was great for assessing CoS fit by clarifying what the role truly entails—and while it centered on sports, the insights applied broadly to anyone exploring CoS.” – Nova Chat attendee

💬 “The speakers brought positivity and insights through their experience(s). I was able to glean what I could, even though I'm not an athlete.” – Nova Chat attendee

Been on a Run Streak for 5 years now. It started in 2019 and was only supposed to go from Thanksgiving through the New Year and then it kept going. Through it I have been able to raise awareness and funds for a cause near and dear to my heart, dyslexia. Even set up the Running The Distance Scholarship at Park Academy, the only school in Oregon dedicated to serving that population. (Link in bio).

This past summer, the run streak for me expanded as part of a challenge to raise awareness for cancer. In July the goal was to go three or more miles each day for @teamrj.liveyourbestlife . Since July 1 I’ve been running at least 3 miles a day.

I find that run streak so important as movement is great from an individual perspective as well as a community one. Something I have seen from this endeavor.

Grateful for the opportunity to chat with @maggiej_5 on @novachiefofstaff this past week. Love the work they are doing for the Chief of Staff position and beyond. Nova is helping people expand their knowledge and empowering them in their careers and life.

Was also thankful they provided the platform to talk about dyslexia, which builds awareness among professionals. Nova did a match for the Running the Distance scholarship @park_academy for people that attended the call. All of this helps our future.

Information on the scholarship, link in bio.

Meet our guest speaker for this week’s Dyslexia Talkshow - @jaredsblank

Jared Blank grew up running. It was his safe place. The thing he was good at when others told him he couldn’t. Diagnosed at five with dyslexia, he had teachers who told him that he wasn’t smart enough, counselors who told him that he wouldn’t graduate from high school. But Jared kept running. Sometimes the run was figurative – high school salutatorian, undergraduate and graduate degrees from USC, a second graduate degree from Seattle Pacific - AND rumor has it he is currently working on his third at the University of Texas.

Sometimes the run was literal, like the San Francisco Ultramarathon (52.4 miles), the Tahoe Rim Trail Race (100 mile), and the World Marathon Challenge (7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents). Setting goals, pushing himself, enduring, working hard, all are who Jared is and he credits his dyslexia for this super power to achieve.

Jared has set another goal for himself – he wants to raise a half scholarship, $12,000, for Park Academy. His Running the Distance Scholarship will provide the opportunity to a student who otherwise would not be able to attend our school structured specifically to help students with dyslexia. Jared credits his family and their ability to access services, not to mention their love and support, helped him understand his super power. Jared is asking you to join him in paying that forward by contributing to his Running the Distance Scholarship at Park Academy.

We look forward to learning from her at the talkshow this week. Don’t miss it!

Date: Friday, 12th April 2024.
Time: 12 PM WAT
Stream live on Instagram

Don’t forget to invite someone. See you there!💙✨
