Lufthansa A340-600 departing in absolutely stunning evening light with an extraordinary contrast! Farewell Lufthansa Airbus A340-600! 🇩🇪✈️ With the retirement of Lufthansa’s A346s, the chapter of this long boy is slowly coming to an end. It has been gracing our skies for more than 25 years, but somehow, this retirement feels way too early. 🥲 What makes it hurt even more is that this aircraft has such a unique shape, sound and legacy, making it a favorite of so many aviation enthusiasts. Today, Lufthansa’s A340-600 completed its final passenger departure from Frankfurt, a hub that wasn’t always its main home throughout the years. From countless beautiful takeoffs and landings in Munich and Frankfurt to memorable spotting moments, this aircraft will always remain a highlight. Whether in perfect conditions or not. Especially the sound of those four Rolls-Royce Trent engines was truly amazing and felt like a song in my ears that will never be unloved. A huge thanks goes out to @lenzhansa for making today’s wing wave and these unforgettable moments possible! 💪🏻😮‍💨 I met him just one week ago when I flew on Lufthansa’s Dreamliner from Munich to Frankfurt. I kindly asked him if it would be possible to give us spotters a little wing wave on this special day. He kept his promise and absolutely delivered! 🙏😍 Thank you so much, man, and happy last landing in Washington! You’ll be missed, long boy! 1st Pic: @fraaviationspotting 2nd Pic: @jarne_ps - Aircraft: Airbus A340-642 Registration: D-AIHW Age: 17.9 Yrs Airline: @lufthansa Departed From: Frankfurt/FRA Arrived At: Washington Dulles Intl/IAD Flight: LH418/DLH418 Flighttime: 8:46H Photos Taken: 18.10.26 - ————————————————————————————————— #airbus340 #lufthansa #frankfurtairport #cranespotting #aviationphotography by @jarne_ps
Blast from the past! A little throwback to this Airbus A350-1000 Prototype performing some test flights from FRA to FRA! This kind of photo fits in with all the tributes and farewells the A340-600s of @lufthansa are receiving right now, because this aircraft represents the complete opposite: the future not only of the crane’s long-haul fleet, but also of many other airlines. I took this photo nearly three years ago, when I had just started my hobby, and I still remember how I tried to capture this special guest from every possible perspective. I ran to the northwest runway to catch one of its four landings, headed over to photograph it taxiing across the Autobahn A3, caught it lining up on runway 18, and even managed to capture it twice while powering down the runway with V2 speeds and an awesome pull up! Although the weather didn’t cooperate that day, this was still one of my favourite highlights since I started spotting. Moreover, it was definitely worth being sick for ten days after taking those shots! Airbus had quite a streak of sending one of its aircraft to Frankfurt every year around October or November. From the A350-1041 to the A330neo, A321neo and A321XLR, many Airbus-owned jets have appeared at @frankfurtairport over the years. So let’s hope this streak continues and we get another surprising visitor this year. Maybe the A350F, for instance!? 👀🤠 - Aircraft: Airbus A350-1000 Prototype Registration: F-WMIL Age: 10.5 Yrs Airline: @airbus Departed From: Toulouse Blagnac/TLS Arrived At: Toulouse Blagnac/TLS (via Frankfurt/FRA and Bremen Hans Koschnik/BRE) Flight: AIB356 Flighttime: 5H Photo Taken: 24.10.23 - #fwmil #airbus #a350 #a3501000 #airbuslovers by @jarne_ps
There are few aircraft that look as impressive on departure as the Boeing 747, and Cathay Cargo’s B-LIE is certainly no exception! This beautiful 747-400F was caught departing @frankfurtairport just as the evening sun was getting lower, creating some fantastic lighting conditions for these shots. Seeing the massive freighter climbing away on its short hop to Amsterdam Schiphol, with its landing gear slowly retracting, made for a really nice photo opportunity. Although Cathay Cargo 747s are regular visitors to Frankfurt, I am always happy to catch another one, especially when the light works out this nicely. Hopefully, the Queen of the Skies will remain a familiar sight here for quite some time! - Aircraft: Boeing747-467ERF Registration: B-LIE Age: 17.6 Yrs Airline: @cathaypacific Departed From: Frankfurt/FRA Arrived At: Amsterdam Schiphol/AMS Flight: CX64/CPA064 Flighttime: 0:48H Photos Taken: 5.9.26 - #blie #cathaypacific #boeing #boeing747 #boeinglovers by @jarne_ps
✈️ THE END OF AN ERA: D-ABYG LEAVES LUFTHANSA 🇩🇪➡️🇺🇸 Today marks a major chapter in the story of Lufthansa’s Boeing B747-8 fleet. After more than 13 years with Lufthansa, D-ABYG “Baden-Württemberg” has left Frankfurt for the final time. On 26 September 2026, the 747-8 departed @frankfurtairport on LH9866 bound for Marana, Arizona (MZJ) But this isn’t a normal ferry flight. 🇺🇸 D-ABYG has been sold to the U.S. Air Force, together with sister ship D-ABYD. The aircraft are intended to support the U.S. presidential aircraft program, including crew training and serving as a source of spare parts for the future VC-25B Air Force One fleet. D-ABYG was delivered to Lufthansa in March 2013 and spent more than a decade flying around the world in the famous Lufthansa livery. Its final scheduled Lufthansa service came in 2026, before it was withdrawn from use and stored at Frankfurt on 1 September Goodbye, D-ABYG. 💙💛 You will be missed at Frankfurt. - Aircraft: Boeing747-830 Registration: D-ABYG Age: 13.7 Yrs Airline: @lufthansa soon @usairforce Departed From: Frankfurt/FRA Arrived At: Marana Pinal Airpark/MZJ Flight: LH9866/DLH9866 Flighttime: 10:50H Photos Taken: 26.9.26 - ————————————————————————————————— #lufthansa #queenoftheskysaturday #frankfurtairport #dabyg #aviationphotography by @jarne_ps

ULS Airlines Cargo Airbus A310 caught during a beautiful evening at @frankfurtairport. It’s hard to complain about a movement like this — a proper classic freighter, some golden September light and one of the aircraft I had very high on my bucketlist in this kind of angle. TC-SGM had actually been a bit of an unfinished mission for me. I had seen and photographed the aircraft multiple times before, but there was one thing missing, I really wanted to add to my collection: A proper face to face with a line up on runway 18 short. Finally being able to tick it off, made this catch much more satisfying than just another A310 movement. There aren’t too many opportunities left to photograph active A310 freighters like this, so I’m really happy to have finally got TC-SGM exactly the way I wanted it. Definitely one of my favourite catches from the last few weeks! - Aircraft: Airbus A310-308F Registration: TC-SGM Age: 35.2 Yrs Airline: @ulsairlines Departed From: Frankfurt/FRA Arrived At: iGA Istanbul Havalimanı/IST Flight: TK6475/THY6475 Flighttime: 2:18H Photos Taken: 24.9.26 - #tcsgm #ulscargo #airbus #airbuslovers #a310 by @jarne_ps
Royal Jordanian Boeing Babyliner looking absolutely stunning in its new special dark colours at @frankfurtairport. The combination of the almost black fuselage, the golden titles and the red details makes this aircraft a real eye-catcher and definitely one of the most elegant and imperial Dreamliners around. I had been hoping to catch this livery for quite some time, so seeing it arrive at Frankfurt in these beautiful conditions was definitely worth it. With the blue sky, some clouds in the background and some nice sunlight hitting the aircraft, the conditions worked out really well for this shot. Last week, the airlines also sent two of their Babyliners. However, those still wear the old colours and as I saw that this aircraft was filed for todays AMM-FRA-AMM service, I was a little more excited! Royal Jordanian is always a nice airline to photograph at Frankfurt, but getting this particular aircraft makes it even more special. Definitely one of those liveries that looks even better in person than it does in pictures. - Aircraft: Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner Registration: JY-BAC Age: 12 Yrs Airline: @royaljordanian Departed From: Frankfurt/FRA Arrived At: Amman Queen Alia Intl/AMM Flight: RJ126/RJA126 Flighttime: 3:42H Photos Taken: 15.9.26 - #royaljordanian #boeing #boeinglovers #b787 #dreamliner by @jarne_ps
A Lufthansa heavy floating into @frankfurtairport in the first sunrays of the day. There are few aircraft that look as majestic as the Boeing 747, and catching this Lufthansa 747-400 in this beautiful morning light made this arrival even more special. With the warm sunlight hitting the fuselage and those four engines roaring towards the sun, the Queen looks absolutely stunning on final approach. The 747-400 has always been one of my favourite aircraft, and with their time in passenger service becoming increasingly limited, every opportunity to photograph one feels a little more special. Definitely one of those moments where everything came together perfectly – the aircraft, the light and the timing. A sight I’ll never get tired of! - Aircraft: Boeing747-400 Registration: D-ABVZ Age: 25.7 Yrs Airline: @lufthansa Departed From: Houston George Bush Intl/IAH Arrived At: Frankfurt/FRA Flight: LH441/DLH441 Flighttime: 8:51H Photos Taken: 8.4.26 - #dabvz #lufthansa #boeing747 #b747 #boeinglovers by @jarne_ps
The first Airbus of EuroAtlantic Airways, seconds before touching Portuguese soil. This A330 was surprisingly low and had to correct slightly upwards, which is why it looks like it’s almost stalling. In the background, you can see the city slowly waking up and the remaining fog covering parts of southern Portugal during the night. However, as soon as the sun rises, the fog makes way for sunshine and warm temperatures. - Aircraft: Airbus A330-202 Registration: CS-TGD Age: 24.2 Yrs Airline: @euroatlantic_official Departed From: Campinas Viracopos Intl/VCP Arrived At: Lisbon Humberto Delgado/LIS Flight: AD8750/AZU8750 Flighttime: 9:29H Photos Taken: 5.8.26 - #cstgd #euroatlantic #airbus #airbuslovers #a330 by @jarne_ps
