We are beyond excited to welcome the South West Pistol League as a partner for the Sabot Foundation Veterans Day Charity Match!

Formed in 1963, SWPL has a long and rich history providing support to the shooting sports here in SoCal. Each of us at RW has been competing at SWPL for years, treating it as our home club. Aaron Lepley, SWPL Match Director, is a dear friend who has supported us and our classes for some time. Every month, SWPL puts on the best USPSA match in SoCal in our opinion. When we decided to turn this year’s event into a match, we had no other choice in our minds.

Match Registration opens tonight 10/12 at 9PM PST

IPSC Nationals is done.

Huge shoutout to @eric.howitzerclothing and the @howitzerclothing squad. Nothing beats shooting alongside a group of savages who bring energy and support to the range.

A few takeaways from the match:

- The 3/2/1 Format: Appreciate the consistency of this setup match to match.

- Optics vs. Prod Optics: The division split is way more interesting to me than Carry Optics vs. Limited Optics. In USPSA, the difference is single-action, gas pedals, and magwells while everyone runs 24-round mags. IPSC Prod Optics capacity at 15 rounds changes the game.

- Stage Planning & Risk: That 15-round cap forces you to manage risk and calculate carefully. You have to decide whether to push a 14-round string clean or weigh the risk of going dry.

- Walkthroughs & Mental Load: The 3-minute walkthrough (and no day before walk through) rule eliminates the USPSA style memory stages where it’s more about memorization than shooting. Less mental clutter during prep means more focus and pressure on executing fundamentals. (Credit to @theuspsa Nats this year though—outside a couple stages, Race and Factory Nats were incredible).

- Standardization: Big fan of IPSC keeping gear, start positions, and trigger weights strict... right up until individual RO subjectivity kicks in and gets silly.

- White Targets: Scoring the back side of the target is pure genius. Scoring is easier and it eliminates the mess of matching five different shades of brown pasters.

Massive thanks to @greater_pittsburgh_gun_club for hosting an incredible match—even with movers on every stage. Can’t wait for next year!

A self induced heartbreaker.

After Day 2 I was sitting at 80.91% and my both of my goals - 20% improvement in the time gap between myself and the winner, and 80% finish were in reach. Then day 3.

This was still by FAR my most consistent Nationals performance and my best Nationals finish…even though I forgot my OWB belt and trusty @redhilltactical holster.

Because I compete with what I carry, I just ran my @langdontactical 92 Elite II from AIWB and other than impacting the draw times, it wasn’t an issue.

Day 3 I felt good, I started aggressive, I called the 2C on this stage, and I called A/C on the swinger. The second shot though didn’t connect, at all. And I let that Mike bleed into the next two stages and shot a little more conservatively and the extra time hurt.

Very blessed to shoot with the @howitzerclothing squad and I can’t thank @eric.howitzerclothing enough for putting together this group of savages for each nationals. The vines and encouragement are always fantastic, amazing times with brothers!

Heartbreaker for sure….but is what I am right now, and it’s a hell of a lot better than it was last year, so maybe the crazy work schedule and gray hairs are finding a way to eek out some performance growth. Can’t wait until next year.

Thank you to all my sponsors for their amazing support.

If you want to level up your skills along with me, come train with us or the fantastic instructors we host: @ravenwinglimited

2 days down!! By far my most consistent Nationals yet. Left myself a real opportunity to accomplish my goal.

Maybe forgetting my competition OWB belt and holster was fortuitous, I’m really enjoying shooting BELTTT and AIWB.

Cactus USPSA 9/6 finished 11/84 overall, 1/7 in ladies
16 A, 7 C, 1 D in 11.24 total for 3 strings
HF: 9.0747

Had issues with my grip after a mountain biking accident last week put me in a wrist brace with metal plate on my strong hand but I fought and I made it work to the best of my ability. God was definitely watching over me in my crash as it could have been a lot worse than it was. Glad I was able to walk away and still ride back to our campsite. Unfortunately I’ve got too many matches coming up these next 3 months that I can’t let up on my practice matches.
