It was an absolute honor and a pleasure to meet one of our best and brightest Boricuas who has dedicated her profound talent for telling the stories of Puerto Rico šŸ‡µšŸ‡· in @biancagraulau! Her powerful videos have educated millions on both the injustices happening to our people, and the organizations and movements that resist colonialism and build the social infrastructure of independence. Her work has been featured by @badbunnypr and @democracynow, and I strongly encourage every Puerto Rican who cares about our people to follow her and check out her work. She highlighted the urgent issue of the impending land use permit law(La reforma de permisos) that would essentially legalize the privatization of huge swaths of protected land.

One interesting thread I noticed at the event was the questions from the crowd were more about how all of us can help to fight back against the colonial exploitation of our land and people. Bianca did a fantastic job offering her perspective as a journalist and storyteller, but these questions really pointed to a desire for greater on-ramps for getting involved, and is more a question of organization than journalism.

Tonight made it so clear that the diaspora is hungry to help, to get involved, to actually fight back and not just learn about how bad everything is. That is when community organizers are needed to step up and channel that energy into political pressure. If you’re interested in helping me build that infrastructure, please reach out to me. We need your help.

Huge thanks to the relentless community organizer and keeper of the flame of Puerto Rican resistance @galabklyn for making this event happen! Your persistence continues to inspire me and so many other Puerto Ricans to bring our people together to empower and support each other. It’s no exaggeration to say you’re a pillar of power for our people both on our island, and especially as a leader and mentor for all of us in the diaspora! taken in The Urbane Arts Club by @jasonjortiz

Just got back our incredible photos from @simbana.photography of the @latinocannalliance Cafe de Communidad at @necanncon NJ in partnership with @bluntbrunch_ led by the amazing @adelia_fakhri_! The Latino power in the room was loud and proud, with folks representing dozens of different Latin American homelands.

@latinocannalliance is not even six months old yet and we’re already seeing how powerful a united latinidad in this space can be. From organizing the canna community to oppose ICE, facilitating connections among our Latin industry leaders, and empowering our people to take political action at the local, state and federal levels, we are building the infrastructure of real power, and we’re just getting started!

Huge special thanks to @adelia_fakhri_ for aligning forces with us to put on such an exciting event. ”MUCHÍSIMAS GRACIAS HERMANA! by @jasonjortiz

As a Latina who has spent more than a decade building in this industry, it means something different to me when I see our community not just represented, but helping shape where this industry goes next. 🧔

That’s one of the reasons I have so much respect for Jason Ortiz and the work he’s doing with the @latinocannalliance

Jason has spent years advocating for reform, equity, and the communities disproportionately impacted by prohibition. From co-founding the @mincannbusassoc to his work with the Last Prisoner Project, he has consistently pushed to make sure those communities have a voice in policy and in the future being built around this industry.

And that work matters.

Representation is important, but influence matters too. We need Latino leaders in the rooms where policies are written, business opportunities are created, and decisions are being made about what this industry becomes.

That’s what I appreciate about the L.C.A, their work to strengthen Latino leadership and political influence while ensuring our lived experiences, priorities, and culture are represented.

I was especially grateful that Blunt Brunch had the opportunity to collaborate with the Alliance for Café con Comunidad during NECANN Atlantic City. Bringing our communities together around culture, leadership, and connection was one of my favorite moments of the weekend.

Jason, thank you for continuing to show up, advocate, and create space for our community. Proud to stand alongside leaders doing this work. šŸ§”šŸ™ŒšŸ½

NECANN NJ Day 1 with @latinocannalliance was such a vibe! The passion and interest in mobilizing the Latino canna community was LOUD! Our table was bumpin all day and the sheer volume of Latino canna leaders in the room was unbelievable. Yes we have so much work to do, but it’s clear that we have a massive movement ready to help lift our community to all new levels.

If you are just getting into town or missed us yesterday, come by our booth(#611) for our cafe con communidad today 10am-11:30am to find your place in this growing and focused canna family. by @jasonjortiz

More than 70 million stories, a plethora of cultures, stories, traditions and lived experiences.

We do this daily BUT it is Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month, so we will celebrate the diversity of our communities and the influence we continue to have across culture, business, advocacy, policy and cannabis EVEN louder.

Our cnnbis story is complex. Our communities have helped shape the culture while also experiencing the consequences of criminalization. As the industry evolves and expands, Latino communities deserve and are actively working to shape what comes next.

On behalf of the Latino Cnnbis Alliance, Ā”Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana y Latina! šŸŒŽ
