It’s been a while since I’ve posted but there was some wintery avalanche related content to share. I gratuitously smashed turns in fun places and went looking for isolated windslab. I found it, it was small but propagated quickly. I saw lots of friends today and visited some alpine bonsai.

This is very real. Yesterday I watched several people get stuck in tree wells. They were all very experienced riders or skiers. Hug your friends and keep them in sight. by @jasonspeer

Winter is back but the snow pack is spooky and needs some time to settle before I’m comfortable pushing boundaries. I could feel buried trees and voids in the snow under foot today. I almost got stuck in a tree well. Other people did get stuck in tree wells. There is a lot of evidence that snow has moved recently and a lot of wind transported snow was seen today.

Ride with a partner but actually ride with them in a way that you are ready to help if they need it. Don’t just wait for them at the chair, keep tabs on each other. It’s easy to get lost in the froth. by @jasonspeer

Even though winter hasn’t delivered the snow I love I’ve still had a lot of good days. I really appreciate what @themtbakerskiarea has done to support the community and keep the stoke alive. I’m psyched to see two! park zones on the mountain and a crew of hard working lifties, patrollers, groomers and even dump truck drivers working hard to make things work.

It was another good day to work on the ski skills. Snowboarding is still more fun but I might be a bit of a pow hound. With the persistent low tide I’m having a lot of fun on some skinny Libs. It’s always fun learning a new skill.

Pow turns are not a new thing for @krissyfagan when she’s strapped to a snowboard or splitboard but this is evidence of her claimed first ever pow run on skis! I think the photos prove that new @libtechski Lib Sticks were the right Christmas present. The ear-to-ear grin and mid-turn giggles made up for the fact that we were deep in the ping pong ball.

I haven’t posted a lot in the last year since my life has been mostly consumed by a house project that nobody wants to see but @krissyfagan and I are doing our best to get back into the mountains and back into our groove. Today was a great day with laps @themtbakerskiarea in the morning and laps dry tooling next to the Nooksack in the afternoon. We saw elks and friends in between! taken in Mt. It turns out that last weekend was pretty good! I’m hoping for a few more fun days likethat before the season is over. I had a great time sliding around @mtbakerskiarea with @krissyfagan by @jasonspeer

I can’t complain about dealing with a loose dry avalanche problem in April! If you have any problems to work around this is the one you want. That said, caution is good as something like this can be managed with thoughtful line choice but it can also scoop a rider up and carry them into a terrain trap. I hope I get a few more days that are this good before switching over to mountaineering boots and rock shoes.

Today wasn’t just “good snow for April”, it was “toe side white room” good @themtbakerskiarea It’s a good thing the @686 rhino suit pops on gray days or is still be lost in the clouds out there.
Thanks for capturing the evidence @krissyfagan It’s always fun shredding laps with @mvonmarbod and @snowbeck12 I appreciate the days we’ve had this season.
