A friend recently asked me about my thoughts on taking on your own house projects, which got me thinking about our home remodel. I have a lot of silly video of Jason actually trying to figure stuff out and me just being a goofball. Here are some gems 💎 😂

It’s the last day of 2025 and I’m thankful for everything this year has brought my way. I got to see friends and family, near and far, more often than in previous years. We gained a niece (through marriage) and beautiful twin babies (one great nephew and one great niece). 🥰 I got to show up for loved ones in need, and also had the courage to ask for help when I needed it. We hosted a big Thanksgiving, and got to see all kinds of family for Christmas, too. I’m especially grateful for a body that can still play outside mostly how I want it to…and lots of good friends that join along in my shenanigans.

Much love to everyone and Happy New Year! I hope 2026 brings a lot of joy and adventure for all of us 🥳 🎆

Yesterday was my 40th birthday 🎉. Throughout my life I recall people being horrified of turning 40 because it meant, to them, that they were suddenly old. When people in our friend group began nearing their 40th I decided that it was time to celebrate this as something good, so I started using the words, “we get to be 40!” which changes the connotation of entering a new decade to a positive thing. I’m so thankful that I get to be 40 and that many friends and family took the time to make me feel very loved. Round 4, LFG! 🥰 🥳

Thankful is an understatement. Everyday I think of how lucky I am, in big part because of the people I get to love and that love me in return. Big thanks to all the people I got to see this week. What a soul filling week it was to gather the family.

There’s a saying: Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

Jason and I started saying this early in our project when things went well unexpectedly, which oddly enough was almost every time. Lucky, right!?

We haven’t spelled out our whole house project on socials, and honestly I’m not going to, but to put it briefly we did a big addition, then tore down almost all of our existing house and rebuilt it taller and with a different roofline, and now we are at the point where we have to redo the existing (remaining) 300sq ft. We tackled that this weekend and we have officially set every door and window (22 windows!) in our house, sheathed a lot of it, and are quickly getting siding up where we don’t have it yet.

So today, after popping in the last window Jason said, “better to be lucky.” Which i responded to with, “I think we’ve just gotten good at this.”

🥰 A big thank you to all the friends who have come by to help with heavy items, we legit wouldn’t be where we are without you all.

Happy birthday, love! Jason is one of a kind and has a heart of gold 💛 I feel incredibly lucky to get to spend our time together. This was our funnest year in a while and I’m looking forward to whatever this next year brings. Cheers to another lap 🥰

It’s a big, big day. 🎉 🥳 We have a completed second bathroom which means that two people can poop and then wash their hands at the same damn time. Maybe someday I’ll get around to ordering glass for the shower but at the moment I couldn’t care less.

We’ve started a new thing where any progress, even the littlest bit, is still progress and we celebrate it. Today was a big day though, and we moved our tile saw away because we are FINALLY done tiling everything that has needed tiled (I’ll grout this week). In total, roughly 900 square feet has been tiled and some of that has been very tedious. I’m thrilled beyond belief and so proud of us.

Even better than that is that this weekend we got to see and hug so many friends. Truthfully, we’ve struggled during this project but the thing that’s hit us the hardest is missing our people, so this weekend getting to see friends has been uplifting to our souls. Lots of love to @hibeams for the fun times outside and to @kylebreakey and @angelaleeak for coming by and hanging out. Was great to see everyone for closing weekend @themtbakerskiarea, too. We made lemonade a lot this winter and it was so special.
