First time trying @maison_glandien wines and this Aligoté did not disappoint. Bright and textural, broadening on the palate, and mouthwatering finish. And the Nuits-St-Georges Les Poisets from @arnoux_lachaux @charles_lachaux was unsurprisingly superb. Elegant, very pretty, and so much intensity and depth of fruit for a village wine. taken in Annecy-le-Vieux by @jasontamblin

So this just happened… I am so so proud of my wife @natharrisonauthor for her incredible talent and determination to make her dreams come true. Her debut novel will be out in September next year and it’s absolutely fantastic. An exciting adventure filled with a brilliant cast of characters.

Beginning today I’ll be participating in the 100 mile challenge to raise funds for @cr_uk. My goal is to raise funds for cancer research by running 100 miles in the month of September, which started today with a rather slow 6 mile run. (Photo from a month ago!)

Most of us have been impacted by cancer in some way. I lost my mother a couple years ago to cancer and miss her everyday. If you can, please consider a donation supporting research to find a cure for this disease. Link in bio.

What a treat to visit three epic producers in Barolo this past week.

@tomjhmyers of @cantina_darcy is one of the most exciting young growers in Piedmont. We got our hands on the very first 2020 Barolo Preda (bottles 1-6!). It has a brilliant perfume of bright, generous fruit, wonderful finesse, and silky tannins. Can’t wait for the super vibrant 2022 Preda.

The iconic Bartolo Mascarello needs no introduction – they have been crafting some of the finest Barolo for decades. The 2019 was structured and intense – one for the cellar, while the 2020 was much more open out of the gates. Both are stunning wines.

And our last visit was to the wonderful GB Burlotto where the wines seem to get better each vintage. The 2020s are so expressive and have a wonderful purity, highlighted by the superb Monvigliero.

This did not disappoint. It was absolutely singing, an impressive example of 2018 and not showing any of the exuberance of the vintage. Supremely elegant with lovely purity of fruit.

Today we lost our Mom far too soon. She was a wonderful person with a strong moral compass. And was defined by her relentless optimism in the face a numerous adversities. She was the best of us and an inspiration
