From Bumstead to Ware, to my 40th and your 40th. Our friendship has grown so much over the years. I’m so happy to be able to call you more than my friend, you are my sister. As I come down from the high I’ve been riding all week, from #cauhomecoming2025, I just wanted to reflect on the last two years of good times. This is more than a homecoming post for me. We have gone through so many friend breakups but ours has been able to stand strong. I am a BLACK WOMAN! We build. We don’t tear down other BLACK WOMEN or BLACK MEN... We have felt the pain of being torn down and we have decided we will be deliberate about building others up! All too often, we women find it easier to criticize each other, instead of building each other up. With all the negativity going around, let’s do something positive!! I recognize the value in the visceral outcry and the protest demonstration: our visual unity against systemic racism + white supremacy is needed. I also recognize that in addition to the protest, we need to vote, make our demands clear AND hold these elected officials accountable. The system was never designed to benefit all of us, but if we’re here and we plan to live our best lives, I believe it’s part of the plan of action. •

Along, with that, let’s educate & support ourselves. Tune out, go within, heal and channel our love for ourselves and our people to into action. Yes, acts of unshakable love. Breathe deeply. Listen to spirit. Stay focused on the goals. Honor (y)our highest selves and do the self-work, self-care and community work. Celebrate our triumphant BLACK JOY! Be intentional with your spending and let’s go out of our way to reduce reduce general spending w/ them and invest in US; BUY BLACK. As intense as these times are, the movement for change, justice, freedom, equity and healing is sparking and I am reminded that I have many things to be grateful for. Through the tears and outrage, I still walk in gratitude. I give thanks for all that I have, all who support me, my family + my village and all that we are equipped with to progress this movement. I am reminded that we are divinely fortified with everything we need... Find your lane, apply your skills and time, and let’s be consistent in our effort. I’m not gonna pretend like the last 2 weeks of ‘Rona memes & videos haven’t had me laughing 😆 till I’m crying 😂 with some of the best load of Black Twitter/IG’s finest comical content since #AskRachel, but in all seriousness, we gotta take action to safeguard ourselves, our friends/families and our greater community.
