To take a break from our regularly scheduled program, this is a special piece from my final project (and book) at SCAD.

Agape (ah-GAH-pay) is a word of Ancient Greek origin that translates, roughly, to selfless, unconditional, or divine love. While it is often used in religious contexts to define the love between humans and God, I am using it to represent the highest form of love that one can experience or evoke.

As I came of age, an era of my life began which showed me what it meant to lose. I was raised between two families full of adults and the elderly. This set me up for life in ways that I simply could not have imagined as an adolescent. An unconditional love from my family and friends provided me with a perfect system to see the rights and wrongs about navigating growing up in the modern world. Realistically, I couldn’t ask for more. Still, though, our lives ebb and flow.

In my first year of college I slowly lost my grandmother, Evangeline, to pancreatic cancer. She was the first and only person in my immediate family that I’ve ever lost. In the wake of her passing I learned a lot about her life, what she did, and how she was a monumental force of life for everyone she touched. As I looked inward I came to better understand the power of love in the connections we share with everyone. It is what moves us forward and brings us life, time after time.

That day of loss was four years ago today. My grandmother funded mine and my sister’s college education and we’ve both come out of it facing forward to become better for ourselves and the people in our lives. We are blessed and do our best with all the love we’ve learned from our angels.

Adam

Apostle Paul states in The New Testament that through his actions in the Garden of Eden, Adam brought about the original sin and welcomed death into the world. As a child of the church in the 21st century, I have seen time and time again the ways in which organized religions apply this doctrine to any and every person that does not follow their rule of law. It is a suffocating practice that diminishes the light of our youth and confines us all into a box that we are told we are wrong to break out of.

“ENTROPIC”

The early 2000s brought about a new generation filled with hope and optimism about growing up in a rapidly changing world. Unfortunately, over the last decade of our most developmental years, things have drastically taken a turn for the worse. Throughout this process, Gen Z has been left with social, environmental, political, and psychological problems to clean up as we enter the adult world.

This project is a projection of my personal interpretation of modern American society. For the last 8 years that I’ve been doing photography, I have compiled a wide selection of images that, in this project, I have layered on top of one another to create a vision of my thoughts. I present a range of issues worth discussing such as urbanization, pollution, religion, overconsumption of media, the acting executive branch, and gun violence.

Pong

In the 21st century, we all have far too much access to one another. This has trained us, as a society, to expect fast responses from almost anything or anyone using technology. The title “Pong” refers to the 1972 Atari video game in which a ball bounces between two vertical barricades which are controlled by the players to send the ball back to their opponents side, just for it to come right back. If you don’t relay the ball back, you lose.

They Make A Desert

“They make a desert and call it peace” was a quote said by Calgacus, a British chieftain, just before going to war against the Romans to protect the Caledonian Confederacy. This piece is a reflection on the development of food deserts throughout the United States in the name of prosperity and capitalism.

The East Wing

On October 23rd, 2025, I created this piece, and the east wing of The White House was demolished to be replaced with a ballroom. I had previously entered the house through the east wing four times in my life.

Class 9

The Bortle Scale is a nine-level numeric scale that measures the brightness of the night sky in a specific place. It determines what celestial objects will be visible by taking light pollution into account. Bortle classes 8 and 9 are referred to as “City Sky” and “Inner-city Sky” respectively, meaning that the only observable objects in the sky are the moon, the planets, our bright satellites, and a few of the brightest star clusters. Approximately 83% of the population lives under class 8 or 9 skies.

Fuck Guns.

Today, being the first Friday of June, is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

With that, I will begin sharing with you my final photography project as a SCAD student. Read more about it below and stay tuned for so much more! Enjoy!

P.S. shout out my father for retiring however long ago and spending all of his time and effort on fighting against gun violence. He surely raised some strong opinions.
