Is a trip to Aveiro, Portugal worth it??
If you’re ever in Portugal and you’re wondering if a trip to Aveiro is worth… While I wouldn’t sacrifice other activities or day trips, I’d say yes it’s worth a visit IF you have extra time! It’s known as the “Venice of Portugal” mainly because of the canals and boats, called Moliciero, that resemble the Gondolas.
Typically, we avoid almost all “touristy” things when we travel but for $13 this boat ride was definitely worth it!

Points of interest shown:
📍Ponte dos Carcavelos
📍Ponte dos Laços de Amizade
📍Circular Pedestrian Bridge
📍Museu de Arte Nova
📍Raiz - O Vegetariano do Bairro (delicious vegetarian restaurant we had lunch at)

Have you visited Aveiro? Or planning to visit? Let me know!

My favorite cafe/restaurant for the last 8+ years! @dottieaudreysbakery I love that they make everything homemade and fresh daily. Including their caramel (love the caramel latte!). The buttermilk pancakes are phenomenal. And you could spin around with your eyes closed and pick a pastry or cookie and it’ll be 10/10. The crew that work here go above and beyond! I honestly have loved everything I’ve tried over the last 8 years. Now that we don’t live nearby, we always stop when we go upstate or when we hit up @wcpremoutlets ! If you’ve been or plan to go, let me know what you think 😊

@redstarcafebakery is a must try! It was Jared’s favorite coffee shop in the Catskills. We tried their unique “cruffins” - a croissant in the form of a muffin and filled with deliciousness. It did not disappoint. Jared got an iced vanilla oat milk latte (bougie right lol) and I got a maple latte- with real maple syrup. The owners were absolutely adorable and super friendly!

We stopped at the most perfect store on our way to @getawayhouse Eastern Catskills! @roughdraftny is literally a combination of the best things- books, coffee and beer! It’s so quaint and cozy. Huge bonus points for the house made coffee syrups 👌🏽Definitely worth the pit stop off the highway!

New to DIY? Don’t have a miter saw? *Enter MITER SHEARS! It was my first time finishing quarter round and these miter shears made it eeaaasssyyyyyy. They easily adjust to different angles just like a saw but without the large footprint. I made my cuts at 45 degree angles. Miter shears don’t work on metal but they’re great for small wood and PVC project!

After my cuts, I used a nail gun (reel coming soon) and caulked (posted a reel a few weeks ago with tips) to cover my error lol 😆 Remember mistakes show you TRIED AND DID IT and they help you learn what you can do better next time! The hardest part is getting started.

Any questions about installing trim or using miter shears?? Drop them below.

Random facts: I hate crevices or seeing cracks! So I decided to caulk our baseboards (and will eventually add shoe molding). It was my first time. I give it a 10/10 for a beginner project. Super simple. What helped me?
1. Cutting my caulk tip small and at an angle. This helps you guide the caulk where you want it to go better.
2. Use a baby wipe to clean up your caulk lines. I wiped it immediately before it cured.
If you need to remove it, you can score it with a razor. When I got it on my hands, I just let it dry and it rubs off like school glue lol
What questions you have about first time caulking?
Happy Caulking guys! 🛠

We spent our Friday morning in our “garden”. So far I have Basil, Parsley, Oregano, Rosemary, Green onions and Romaine (both that I grew from food scraps☺️)
Jared repotted his Venus Flytrap. Meet Serena, Osaka, Coco and no-name 😂

Living in the city is a little more challenging to grow things but not impossible. The hardest part is getting started!

Any questions about growing from food scraps or in pots? What are you growing this summer??

@getawayhouse you get me!!
Jared and I spontaneously booked a getaway cabin this week even though we were planning to visit Boston and it turned out to be one our absolute favorite vacations. The absence of TV and WiFi allowed us to reset and reconnect in the most peaceful, serene surroundings. Everything was so minimal but extremely intentional and thoughtful. We have decided to do Getaway trip once every 3-4 months!

I’ve been doing Pilates for over 4 years now but consistently for about 2 years. It’s still by far my favorite form of exercise for all the reasons mentioned above and more! Joseph Pilates created this to focus on core strength and mobility of the spine. He said “your only as young as your spine”. And I believe him! In order for me to stick with this or any exercise, I’ve adopted the approach @thebalancedlife takes- 15 mins of impactful and intentional movement a day! It’s been life changing for me! Exercise releases endorphins - the "feel good" hormones that have been proven to lower stress, ease pain, and boost your mood. Now who does want.. I mean NEED that!

Let me know what form of exercise you can carve out 15 mins for! Or if you want to see slower workouts that you can copy!
