It’s been almost 9 months since I performed my thesis. Almost 7 since I left a place that no longer felt like home & almost 6 when I left social media and made a vow to start giving myself the love I so easily gave to others.

This baby was suffering in silence and smiling through the pain. It’s hard to research your authentic self when you spend so much time playing a character & looking away from whats within. I love you so much for being brave enough to bare your struggle on stage. I love you so much for realizing that if you keep filling everyone else’s cup you’d never have anything to drink. I love you so much for taking the time to reset and for having the patience to keep trying even when things felt bleak. I love you for allowing yourself to cry for it made space for so much joy to come. I love you for staying and holding space even when others made you feel like you didnt deserve it or your mind was twisted into believing you were unworthy. Life has changed so much since then and you’re seeing the fruits of your labor. I pray you hold on to this joy and you never lose yourself in the effort to live up to the unreasonable demands of this world and the people within it who may hurt you. You earned that standing ovation baby boy 🫶🏾

There is something very special about working with the people you love. Thank you Landon and Genesis for dragging me back on stage and making me work this year. To many more collaborations. I love you both ❤️ (PS: Real ones get the song choice)

To create safe spaces and embrace joy is my goal in this life. Thank you to the beautiful souls both on stage and behind the scenes who went on this journey with me. A special thank you to Landon and Kamau for being my saving graces for music. To see something born during such a hard period of my life be taken and used to breathe new life into the world. I never imagined I’d be so blessed to see it in this form. Thank you thank you thank you ❤️

I am beyond humbled and thankful to have been able to take an excerpt of my newest work Take It To The Cypher to be performed at the Illini Women’s Basketball halftime show and be the first ever from the dance department to do so.
