This one’s gonna be short and sweet because guest spot’s over and I got two hours to go over my volleyball teams before the girls and I have to go and meet a very special person!! Also typing with one hand is hilarious so I need to use Siri voice to text. Apologies if anything is spelt weird !

11 years ago, I worked as a counter girl at a tattoo shop on the beach, and I fought tooth and nail to be a tattooer ever since. There are so many people to credit, but I wanted to honour the clients that let me do either MY first tattoo on skin, maybe their first tattoo ever, or they let me do one of my favourite drawings. These guys let me learn something. These clients got me through the slow seasons, got me through the uncertain times. Thank you for everything you’ve given me and my family, all the trust, all the love it means the world to me. GRATITUDE ALWAYS 🙏

SEVEN. Over 2,500 days.

Seven is a huge numerology number for me. I’m weird like that. I’m drawn to certain patterns symbols repetitions- and 7 years? It’s significant. Seven years is forever. If I can do seven years, I can do the rest of my life.

Before I ramble on I have to say that being sober and talking about my sobriety “journey” is not a commentary or criticism of how other people should live their life- and every year when my anniversary comes up, there are different feelings around it. Some years it feels like no big deal at all- just a part of who I am now- I can make a post and share a thought or not- but as I wake up beside my third child and feel my eyes burn tired, from taking my son to the hospital til 1 am and nursing at 4- and not because I slammed my head off the side of an oven or walked out off an upside down car or because I passed out on a curb at a train station- I feel that this year more than ever I’ve really solidified who I am as a person • in motherhood • and I think that’s worth talking about and celebrating.

In honour of seven, I’m really soaking up this reality. I have three young children and I’m in an incredible workspace. Mentally, this is the strongest I’ve ever been in Alberta. It doesn’t mean that I don’t still seek help. I have an addictions counsellor and a psychiatrist. Being strong doesn’t mean being alone. I still have community that I lean on. I still have mentors that I seek out - so I guess my biggest message has been and will always be to talk about it and find your people. Find the helpers who can help you change your life - change into something you never knew was possible. You’re not supposed to be the same kid you were at 15.
