I wish I didn’t have to be so proud. I wish my kids didn’t know this kind of loss. But please take a few minutes to listen to @jaylanafisch_ at his first public speaking engagement- talking about his love of sports, stats and his .500 average against Cancer being the worst kind of loss…. by @jaylanafisch_

Happy birthday to the best father there ever was. I miss you so much everyday and there is not a day I do not think about you. I never thought that September 22nd would ever be a sad day but today it is because I can’t spend my dad’s 54th birthday with him.

After my mom became a survivor, I never thought I would have to go through cancer with a parent again. Never did I think that my dad, my best friend, would be taken from me because of cancer.

In honor of my dad’s birthday and my first without him, I am hoping you can support me and donate to support the group I am starting. I appreciate any small amount or even 22 dollars (my dad’s birthday and favorite number) from all of our friends or anyone who understands.

I had the idea to start a group for kids who had parents on a cancer journey over a year ago. I was in the car with both of my parents driving back from one of my basketball games. It was one of my only games my dad could go to that year because he was too sick.

Now, we changed the idea and are starting Teens Joining Forces After Loss ( JF are my dad’s initials) with my mom’s company, My Cancer Family and Cancer Support Community Greater NY & CT (CSCNYCT). CSCNYCT is going to run the group for kids like me, living with the loss of a parent and in honor of my dad’s birthday, I would like to ask for your support to make sure the group is able to run for years to come. It’s being led by our family friend, former teacher and Teen Life Coach, Olivia Edelman, a former teacher and now Teen Coach, who lost both of her parents to Cancer.

MY FULL POST IS AT THE LINK IN BIO (and in comments) BUT PLEASE CLICK TO READ AND DONATE . The money will go directly to CSCNYCT to pay for this program so that it is FREE for anyone who needs it.

Thank you.

This morning, I woke up to the worst kind of news possible. My dad passed away. My dad has been fighting Oral cancer for now two years. At 4:25 am, he passed. My dad was the best person I knew, he touched every life he was a part of and made the world a better place. Cancer is such a fucked up thing, one minute you could be completely healthy, the next minute you could be thinking about your survival chances. Everything changes with cancer. It’s a fucked up disease. Took the best person I knew away from me. Wtf. I don’t know what I will do without you dad. I know it’s only been a few hours but I miss you so much Dad, I don’t know what I will do without you. I love you so much and I hope you enjoy your first doubles match in 18 years with your dad.❤️ 🕊️🕊️ by @jaylanafisch_

Every day Jaylan is at Syracuse is a dream for him. And as his mom, watching him already make the most of every opportunity is a dream for me!

So proud that just weeks into his freshman year, he is already showing who he is, his passion for the sports industry and his drive to learn from the best.

Today, he was nominated to attend a special luncheon with members of the Falk Advisory Board where he had the incredible opportunity to network with leaders in the sports industry. And he was seated next to legendary sports agent David Falk, the namesake of Syracuse’s Falk College of Sport!

Even more special, he was able to spend time with Sandy Montag, who he has been fortunate to intern with for the past eight months.

So grateful to Dean Jeremy S. Jordan and April Mazza for recognizing Jaylan and giving him this opportunity.

Watching him pursue his dreams, build relationships and create his own path makes me so proud.

Keep dreaming big, Jaylan. You’re just getting started! 🧡🍊 taken in Falk College of Sport at Syracuse University by @jaylanafisch_

Happy birthday Dad. There was no one like you and there never will be. I am beyond grateful for the 15 years we spent together, although it was way too short, I feel blessed to have had you as my dad. There is no one I would rather have learned from, watched football with, and bonded with about movies, sports, tv shows, and so much more. I love you and miss you so much every single day. Every Sunday, I especially miss your presence as that was our day to sit on the couch and watch football. Every single time I watch your Colts or even RedZone I am thinking about you.

Even after not having you for three birthdays it still feels weird that you aren’t here. People always say time heals all wounds. I don’t necessarily agree with that statement because grief affects every single person differently. I believe that grief is not affected by time at all, instead, it operates on its own clock. That is exactly why I started @teensjoiningforcesafterloss, so many teens struggle with grief even if they lost a family member 5 years ago. You never know what someone else is going through. Therefore, if you know anyone that has lost a family member to cancer, please feel free to reach out.

Dad- There is not a single day you aren’t on my mind. I hope I am finding ways to make you proud. I love you and miss you so much, and I will always continue to Work Hard.

I am so honored to announce that I have accepted a position as a student manager for the Syracuse Men’s Basketball Team! I am beyond grateful to Peter Corasaniti, Ryan Blackwell, Ryan Beaury, and Tyus Battle, for this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to get started and continue learning from the best in the business!

Thank you as well to Dean Jeremy S Jordan, Gina Pauline, April Mazza, Ian Richardson, and Scott Tainsky for all of their support throughout this process!

A huge thank you to my family and friends, specifically @denisealbert, for her continuous help and support! Excited to get started!

Finally, thank you to my dad for helping me get to where I am today. Always searching for new ways to make him proud🕊️❤️

I just had my first public speaking engagement — and I shared my story through something that’s always made sense to me: sports and stats.

When I think about my cancer journey with both of my parents, I see it like a record - 1–1. One win, one loss. A .500 average against the toughest opponent there is: cancer.

Thank you to @cscnyct for the opportunity to speak at this event. I’m so grateful to have been able to tell my story, and sadly, I know so many others can relate. I hope that one day every 1–1 kid like me will have a support system around them - that’s exactly why I started @teensjoiningforcesafterloss.

Thank you as well to everyone who came out to support me last night. This was my first time sharing my story in front of strangers, and because of the incredible people surrounding me, I was able to do it. I appreciate each and every one of you so much. Thank you again for making it such a special night.

If you’re interested, please see my previous post to watch the speech… by @jaylanafisch_

Our Annual Night of Laughter truly lived up to its name - and delivered all the emotion ❤️
Between the comedy and our very own co-founder of @teensjoiningforcesafterloss and member, @jaylanafisch_ sharing his powerful story, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. His courage and honesty remind us why we do this work every single day.

Jaylan, thank you for inspiring us all ❤️

Special thank you our sponsors, @gothamcomedy and our guests - including Marv Albert, @denisealbert and @davidblaine for joining us!

I couldn’t be a prouder mom. Jaylan was honored last night by @cscnyct and received their Community Champion Award for his work with his virtual support group for teens who have lost a loved one to Cancer.

@teensjoiningforcesafterloss is a major source of what has gotten Jaylan through the past two years since he lost his dad to cancer. As Jaylan said when he spoke, “I’ve always been a sports guy. My brain thinks in stats. But one thing cancer taught me is that stats never tell the whole story.

Here’s my record: both of my parents had cancer. My mom won. My dad lost. Going .500 is not a win...... I started Teens Joining Forces After Loss - a group for kids who’ve lost a family member to cancer. We meet virtually every other week. No one has to explain anything, because everyone gets it.

Here’s a stat I hate: about 2.4 million kids lose a parent to cancer every year. Most never get support. That’s exactly why this group exists.
And here’s my favorite stat: zero - what Cancer Support Community charges its members. Every service, completely free. I’m so grateful to be partnered with Cancer Support Community Greater NY & CT.

My goal is to grow this - so every kid with a record like mine has a team behind them.

My 1-1 record doesn’t come close to telling my full story. Stats show numbers. They don’t show people, or what they mean to us.”

If you know someone who could use this support, please reach out. It’s still hard to believe this is our families reality but we will all continue to do our part to support others.

We love and appreciate friends and family who joined us in person and support behind the scenes! by @jaylanafisch_

2 Years Ago today, my life changed forever. I had learned the news that my Dad had passed away at 4:25 AM. That is the most traumatic thing you could hear as a 15 year old. Yet here I am in 2026 celebrating my admission to Syracuse and my upcoming graduation. None of that would have been possible without my best friend and my Dad - Jordan Adam Fisch. He was the best man I knew and the best father anyone could ask for. 53 years is way too short for a man of your kind, I have never met a person like you and I never will.

Dad- There is not a single day where I do not think of you. I love you and miss you every single day and there is nothing I would rather do than watch football under Big Fluffy with you. Thank you for being my source of inspiration and my reason for pushing forward. @teensjoiningforcesafterloss was only created because I lost you. Since then, we have raised $75,000 to continue the group for many years. I will never stop pushing or trying to make you proud.

There are so many teens in my situation that need a helping hand and I know that you would want me to be that helping hand therefore, Teens Joining Forces After Loss was created. Because of Teens Joining Forces After Loss, I am able to be ok. Connecting with other kids who are able to understand the daily challenges that come with losing a parent is the most helpful thing I could do for myself.

If there is anyone you know that could use @teensjoiningforcesafterloss, please do not hesitate to reach out. by @jaylanafisch_

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad. I can’t believe this is now the third Father’s Day I’ve spent at the cemetery visiting you. Thank you for being the best Dad that anyone could have ever asked for.

I remember the last Father’s Day we had together, I was 14 and had just finished my freshman year of High School. It was June 18th, 2023 and as we always did we attended the Mets Father’s Day game. It was a tradition for us to go see the Yankees or Mets on Father’s Day. Unsurprisingly they lost that game but that wasn’t new to us because our Father’s Day record was 1-6…

Now it is my third Father’s Day without you and I am almost 18. Since you’ve been gone, I’ve tried my best to fill the gaps in my life but there is always one thing missing, it’s you. I will never stop trying to make you proud and I know right now that you would be so happy with the progress that Jaron and I have both made. Jaron is graduating College next year and I am spending my summer before I head off to Syracuse interning with The NBA Summer League again and continuing my internship with The Montag Group. I think you would also love to know that Abby and Caroline are still there for us every step of the way.

Dad- we all love you and miss you every single day, and we will always continue to work hard to make you proud. Thank you for being the best Dad that there ever was, I hope to be half the man you were when I am older. Everything I do is for you, love you Dad
