Bring Back Our Children 💔❤️‍🩹

#ChildrensDay #ChildrensDay2026 by @jayofjaydeespen

Recently, something happened that should have evoked a rush of heavy emotions: guilt, trepidation, and an overwhelming sense of unworthiness.

Guess what? It didn’t.

Instead, I felt a deep, steady flow of gratitude. At how far I’ve come, how far Jesus has led me through, and the glorious future He has placed ahead of me. It made me realize that I had just stumbled upon a map to a place that no longer exists in my life. It was a profound joy to acknowledge that those days are behind me; that I do not live there anymore.

Thank you, Jesus, for a love that saw exactly who and where I had been, yet overlooked it because Your greatest concern was for me to come home. And thank You for guiding me all the way back 🥹🙌🏽

If I have no other convictions (and I have quite a number), there is this unwavering one:

Jude.1.24 - "Now to Him Who is able to keep JAYDEE without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [HER] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]" 🤭

It's my birthday, and this Girl-Child is grateful 🤭🎂🥳 Happy Birthday, Jaydee (Precious Stone). by @jayofjaydeespen

📚 Book Review 1: The Purpose Driven Life (Updated Edition) – Rick Warren
Theme: “It All Starts with God.”
Genre: Christian Non-fiction

📖 “It’s not about you.” — That’s the very first line of The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.
And honestly? It hit me hard.

Something about this book makes it an easy first recommendation. Beyond being one of the best-selling nonfiction books in publishing history, its message draws every reader into a wholesome encounter.

In a world that constantly preaches self-focus — “find yourself, build yourself, define yourself” — it’s so easy to fall into the trap of living a self-centered life. It’s become such a subtle, almost unrecognised pattern that even on the journey of purpose discovery, we often use ourselves to define our purpose — our passions, desires, strengths, and circumstances.

But Rick reminds us that true purpose begins when we shift the focus: from self to Source.

We were created by God’s purpose and for God’s purpose. He thought of us long before we ever thought of Him — and that truth changes everything.

If you’ve ever asked, “Why am I here?”, this book is a gentle, powerful place to start. The author recommends a 40-day intentional journey through the book — one chapter a day — to help you fully absorb its lessons.

Here’s to rediscovering life through the eyes of the One who designed it. 💫

(Having first read it back in 2018, I was thrilled to hear it’s been updated from 40 to 42 chapters. I can’t wait to start a fresh read this November 😃)

Have you ever read this book? What stood out to you the most?

I have seen quite enough darkness to appreciate light 🌦✨
Quite enough death to appreciate life.
Quite enough uncertainties to appreciate clarity.
The summary of my year: *”God is good and that is my story”* 🙌🏽🙇🏽‍♀️

Words cannot express how grateful I am to be here 🙇🏽‍♀️🙌🏽

For a journey that I encountered stumbling blocks which I could have held unto and excused myself to follow ‘other paths’, God showed me mercy and led me through.

Here’s to my family (biological and spiritual) who stood by and cheered me on even when I couldn’t see what was applaudable 🙏🏽

Here’s to genuine friendships forged along this path and orchestrated by God to smoothen the rough edges of the pursuit ❤️‍🩹🫶🏽

Here’s to lessons unlearned, learned and relearned in this growth process 📈

Here’s to a grand entrance into the Nigerian Legal Profession and raising the Bar while at it 🥂

Like a wise person recently said, ‘God called me before I was called to the Bar 😅’
A grateful heart and more 😌

Throwback to when I fulfilled a long-term dream of being surrounded with so many great Nigerian books that I would have a hard time making my choice. After reading too many foreign crime fictions and thrillers, it felt good to be ‘home’ 😃

Beautiful space, delightful customer service, great books @spine_and_label

PS: I look forward to having more Christian Nigerian fictions flood the book market. The gospel should be spread everywhere and I believe that what we read—even for entertainment—is an area we shouldn’t joke with (The book I blurred at the end drives home my point. I couldn’t even finish 🤦🏽‍♀️ I wish book reviewers would be more honest about book ‘CONTENT’ and not paint them nice simply because they are ‘interesting to read’. But this post is not about bad books; it is about finding the treasures in great books 💎📚)

So here’s to great books 🥂
That remind us of our roots;
That make us laugh hard at life; but most importantly,
Books that edify and inspire us to become all God has called us to be 🙇🏽‍♀️🙌🏽

PS of PS: It’s my first voice-over video content yet. How did I do? 🙈 Any video content creator you see ehn, give them a hug and squeeze money into their hands because no be beans oh.
Special shout-out to @favoritejesusgirl @mibiafolabi @oliveemodi @folasade_daini and everyone else who make content creation look like a piece of cake 😅

Should I do more of this?
Are you a book lover or would you rather watch movies?
Are you the ‘Proudly Nigerian’ when it comes to books or you’d rather have ‘oyibo’ vibes?
