I was left all alone by a @northwrightair ‘s Pilatus Porter floatplane, deep in the Backbone Ranges of the Northwest Terratories’ Mackenzie Mountain Wilderness. In front of me was 350kms to travel on four different rivers. Over the next 11 days, the experiences I had were nothing short of epic.

(New film live on my YouTube channel). A floatplane left me all alone deep in the primordial Backbone Ranges of the Northwest Terratories’ Mackenzie Mountain Wilderness at over 4000’ of elevation. Over the following 11-days, I’d paddle 350kms via four spectacular rivers to reach the Mackenzie. Along the way, I experienced heavy rain and thunderstorms that sent the river into near-flood conditions. I caught chunky Bull Trout, interacted with wildlife at close distances including predictors such as wolves and bears. I ran countless rapids and climbed up a mountain to discover an extremely remote and rarely seen tufa hot springs and more. There was something so, ethereal, so magical about this experience that made it unlike any I’ve ever had. The two hour documentary I filmed on this adventure is now live on my YouTube channel (link in bio).

Well, this is the first Steelhead I’ve ever caught, but Hudson reeled it in for half of the way too, so I don’t know if it fully counts for me or for him. We were hoping to get into some salmon too on this little father son fishing adventure last month. In the end it was a little slow with just the one fish but we had an awesome morning on the water out of Meaford, ON with @ucatchemfishing We cooked it up whole on the smoker BBQ and it was delish!

What an evening! Just enjoying what is likely one of the last perfect BBQ evenings of the season. I’ve got back ribs in the smoker and a cold Cream Ale from @muskokabrewery in my hand. We welcomed baby Mylah into the Baird family in the wee minutes of the morning on September 29th. She was born at 8lbs 12oz and is already very loved by her big brothers. Its hard to believe she’s finally here! Our hearts are very full! 🥰 by @jbadventurer

The crux of Iceland’s Skjálfandafljót River is the long a s raging whitewater canyon following Barnafoss waterfall. After a long portage and steep, parlours descent into the canyon, I ran the rapids at its base, which out the last of the Skjálfandafljót‘s intense whitewater behind me. But still, after a long push. One of the most dangerous and challenging portions of the trip still lay ahead of me. There must have been something in my eye here. 🇮🇸🌋🧊🌊 Deep into a week-long solo packrafting expedition in Iceland, I was hit with a profound rush of positive emotions while overlooking a deep canyon fed by a raging, three tiered waterfall. This was an interesting stretch of river to negotiate as I traveled towards Iceland’s northern cost. Here, the river rages through an old lava flow and has left a myriad of mid-raid islands, making it very challenging to scout a safe channel to run. I was scared to launch my Packraft into a 10km stretch of consistent whitewater on Iceland’s Mjóadalsá River. I reached the river after a long trek that finished with crossing a mountain after paddling a remote, highlands lake. But I’d never paddled a Packraft (or a kayak for that matter) in moving water before and I could see that the river raged on through the volcanic mountains, disappearing into a steep canyon of lava rock.
