Blancpain Lady B: A New Expression of Mechanical Miniaturisation To mark the 70th anniversary of the Ladybird, the Maison unveils Blancpain Lady B, a new line that continues the Brand’s longstanding tradition of mechanical miniaturisation. With a case measuring just 19 mm in diameter and 2.9 cm³ in volume, Blancpain Lady B is powered by the Maison’s automatic calibre 615, one of the smallest contemporary automatic mechanical movements with a round shape (15.7 mm). This legacy dates back to 1956, when Blancpain’s R52/R55 calibre set a world record as the smallest round mechanical movement, at just 11.85 mm across. In the depths of the quartz crisis, @blancpain1735 chose a different path. After acquiring Blancpain in 1982, Jacques Piguet brought in Jean-Claude Biver to relaunch the brand. Together, they made a bold promise: no quartz, ever. Their vision came to life in 1983 with the Complete Calendar Moon Phase, the first watch of Blancpain’s celebrated Six Masterpieces. With its 34 mm case and complete calendar display, this watch became a symbol of the renewed appreciation for traditional Swiss watchmaking. Powered by the Frédéric Piguet 953 calibre (3 Hz, 40 hour power reserve), it demonstrated that mechanical complications still had a place in a rapidly changing industry.
