I recently had a dig through the latest watches in the @subdialwatches drop this week and found a few gems 💎

Including a MOP Blancpain, a killer doré dial Ellipse, the 5711 (more on this vs a 3800 soon) and a quintessential example of a vintage Daytona. That large Ellipse is the perfect example of why everyone needs to get hands on with watches - 10/10 on the wrist 💥

The Bathyscaphe Goes Back to 1968

@blancpain1735 marked 70 years of the Bathyscaphe with a compact 300-piece anniversary edition that revisits a 1968 model, but with modern construction.

The 37.4mm case has straight lugs, a polished steel bezel and a glass-box sapphire crystal; the meteor-grey sunray dial carries a vintage Blancpain logo and features baton hands and the Bathyscaphe’s distinctive arrow-tipped seconds hand.

Since its release, much of the discussion has focused on the CHF 13,800 price, alongside claims that the watch copies Seiko’s 62MAS. The Bathyscaphe debuted in 1956, nine years before Seiko introduced its first diver in 1965, although the specific 1968 Bathyscaphe naturally post-dates the Seiko.

The watch is 300m water resistant and is powered by Blancpain’s automatic Calibre 1150, with twin barrels, a silicon hairspring, and a 100-hour power reserve.

U guys what do we think of the new Lady B watch by Blancpain? She kinda mystifies me… She’s a riff on the original from 1956 (left) designed by Betty Fiechter, the first woman to ever run a Swiss manufacture (!). The steel is $12,600 and the rose gold is $19,200. Thoughts plzzzzz. Also including some other Blancpain vintage watches at the end cus they’re all amazing.

Celebrating 70 years of the iconic Ladybird, Blancpain unveils the Lady B, a striking continuation of the Maison’s legacy in compact watchmaking.
Housed in an delicate 19 mm case, it is powered by the automatic caliber 615. At just 15.7 mm across, it stands as one of the smallest round automatic mechanical movements today.
This craftsmanship honors a heritage beginning in 1956, when the record-breaking R52/R55 calibre measured a mere 11.85 mm.
Designed to be worn as a true piece of jewelry, the Lady B merges technical mastery with modern style, featuring a sliding case and a double-tour calf leather strap.

New tiny Blancpain just dropped: The Blancpain Lady B.

Seventy years ago, Betty Fiechter, the first woman to ever run a Swiss watchmaking house, created the Ladybird Bullet, home to the smallest round movement in the world at the time. Today, Blancpain marks that anniversary with the Lady B, a spherical 19mm case built around the in-house calibre 615, one of the smallest contemporary automatic round movements around, wrapped in a double-tour strap.

Swipe to see it on my less than elegant wrist.

Available in steel (CHF 9,500) or 18K red gold (CHF 14,500), not limited, and a proper new chapter for the Ladybird collection rather than a one-off tribute.

There’s no limit to the types of watches I truly love, and this one might just prove it. Realistically it’s not for my wrist, but that’s doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be celebrated.
