I've been reflecting a lot about JBF lately.

That tends to be this case around this time of year when I realize, holy shit, JBF is turning another year older in a few short months.

Each year, it feels like I just barely make the finish line to celebrate the birthday of my gym. What I mean is, I struggle to find comfort in the fact JBF isn't going anywhere.

I grip so tightly because I never want to succumb to the numbness that is work. I never want to sleep on the fact that anything can change at any moment, I mean look at what the pandemic did.

JBF is work, I don't believe in the concept of not working a single day if you love your job. I love JBF with my whole heart but many days just like everyone else, I struggle.

Some days(a lot of days), I feel like I don't do enough and I'm unorganized and unprepared.

Taking a break is nice but it doesn't dull the thoughts of being able to get comfortable with the idea of running a small business.

The fear it could all crumble is always on the forefront of my mind. The ball could always drop.

However, at some point this year I realized JBF isn't mine anymore.

This gym is as much mine as it my members and the community we have built.

I've realized this in the way people come to JBF to seek comfort and community.

I've realized this when members will go an extra mile to clean up at the gym and even bring their family, spouses or best friends there, or bring food to share with others. Even when they use JBF as a meeting spot to go off with their friends to have dinner around town.

Or meet up on cold Sunday mornings to go on a run with @maineheath 🌨️ or train LATE on a weeknight just to powerlift with some of their friends @sarah.magdalena124 💜 and feel like a team.

So as much as I know theoretically I own JBF, some of the weight has been taken off my shoulders knowing my folks care about this space and community as much as me.

And I don't feel as alone in the fight to keep my mission alive.
